Structure is fully resolved and you are left with pure zin fruit and spice. Beautifully aged old-vine zin. Sadly Silver Oak acquired this vineyard in 2012 and ripped out the old vines to plant more Cab Sauv for their Alexander Valley bottling. Hideous label, though. — 9 years ago

Lovely rosé, stands up to a ripe cheese plate — 4 years ago
This is a Silver Oak, employee only wine. The winery doesn’t exist- when silver oak bought the vineyard they were not allowed to get rid of the name or rip up the zin vines. Vines planted in 1877. This has aged beautifully. Was made in a classy way…not over blown alc or tannins. Medium body, clean, distinctive exotic forrest floor. — 5 years ago
Sensational nose. Baked apricots. So much going on here but really enjoyable. Lightly honeyed, full bodied but without weight. Long finish. Joyful. — 7 years ago

So sad this vineyard was torn out by Silver Oak to plant more swag cab . My last Sausal Sangiovese; it had great bang for the buck, and stood tall against the rest of Cal-ital's Sangiovese produced domestically — 12 years ago
A real blast from the past, a 40 year old wine made from 90 year old vines....gobbled up by Silver Oak in 2012, the wine is no longer being made. A full bodied wine for its time (14.2%abv), this is still tasting young, ripe but not overripe. Last bottle......New Year’s Day 2021. — 5 years ago
