A gorgeous savoury red fruited extravaganza. Herbal notes from whole bunches in the fermentation (50%). This certainly has become an instant hit as a top quality Pinot Noir from the Coal River Tasmania but owned by Shaw + Smith from the Adelaide Hills. Interesting to try 2 quality Pinots from the same vintage (2015) on successive nights. The Tolpuddle won over Yarra Yering in this bout, marginally. Does no betray that it is a SB at first blush. The grass is more a tertiary aroma beneath maybe a green apple nose.
On the palate the acid predominates but is not obtrusive. The wine is probably more of a Loire valley signature.
Rosslyn and Alix did not appreciate this wine at all. In fact they disliked it so much they did not drink it. — 4 years ago
