Rancho Chimiles Tempranillo 2012

Popped and poured. The 2012 pours a deep ruby, with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of blackberries, desiccated cherries, prune, pipe tobacco, new leather, purple flowers, wet rocks, and baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and quite satisfying. The texture is luxurious. This drinking well now and should continue to do so for a least a few more years but why wait? — 4 months ago

Seleccion Rebecca Herrera Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Well-made but just too intense. An overpowering Cabernet Sauvignon that will never lose its intensity with aging. Disappointing at its high price. — 5 months ago

La Chole Napa Valley Red Blend 2015

What a well made red blend this is: Cab, Merlot, Malbec + Syrah. Perfect balance of fruit, oak and sweet tannins. Every glass boomed ripe fruit and a long mouth coating experience. This winery is doing great things.

Salvaje País Blanco 2019

White païs from a wild vineyard. The vines are partially growing in a forest and harvest is done with ladders.
Curious, but very enjoyable. Smokey, lime, great acidity!

Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Hmmm. Not sure what to think. Just an all around nice wine but nothing too special. Quite spicy, peppery notes, well integrated tannins. Nothing too oaky (always a concern with Napa Valley wines) but lacking depth and intrigue. — 4 years ago
