Biancomargherita Calabria Mantonico Guarniccia 2018

65% guarnaccia bianca 35% mantonico bianco
I am going hard local and i must admit i am enjoying it even though i know already i will never find gold in the glass
A touch aromatic perhaps, granny smith apple, sage, thyme, iodine.
Not elegant maybe, but definitely enjoyable
Fairly long
I am happy with my little discoveries
I am meeting young guys that believe in the territory
With taralli and eggplant pure with chilli it was spot on

Biancoviola Catarratto Blend

An amber or a white? Deep Gold/Orange color. Aromas of grass, wet stones and a hint of peach. Citrus and marzipan on the pallet. Ripping acidity. Very textural. Interesting. — 3 years ago

Viola Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Sangiovese 2013

Straight fire. It’s been a few years since I have had this and once again this doesn’t disappoint. Real Italian river rock acidity with elegant cherries and red fruit. Lots of the acidity on this. Some definite natural figs after it sat for a bit. Highly highly recommended especially for the price point. — 4 years ago

As it aired out, the fig became dominant and the red fruit passed eventually. It was open for a long while and it’s structure fell apart (bit a big deal for an older wine). Interesting to note though. Right when I opened it up there wasn’t any of that fig but mostly red fruit and screaming acidity. Still love the wine especially for the price point!
