On the nose licorice, cherry vanilla, blackberry. Palate floral, smooth, oak, violet. Smooth yet dry. Renegade Wines recommended. Small production. Excellent for the price. — 5 years ago
Stunner. Deep golden amber. Rather oxidative but tropical fruit notes leading to unctuous yet lively texture and explosion of mature fruits on palate and long finish. Paired perfectly with Andrew’s shrimp in olive oil garlic pasta with parsley! Four Half bottles. Two ‘95 full. AA20 ea. Two days stored sealed in Florastor bottle, tried with Kalbi and baby bok choy from David’s mom and paired really well! Better than the red blend Renegade. — 6 years ago

Renegade tasting - might’ve been because I wasn’t spitting but most balanced and pleasant but forward tannins and red fruit — 8 years ago
Renegade Wine dinner series at Rebelle NYC presented by sommelier Patrick Cappiello. Focus was on Cab Franc: 15 wines paired with 5 courses. Posting a few favorites.
I lost my notes but remembered really enjoying this and how balanced it was on both the savory/fruit profile as well as the tannin/acid front.

Tall and straight heavy bottle. Looks kinda cool. CA wine style. 14.0% abv. No specifics on the blend. They say it arose from the wrong hose in the wrong tank ;-). Color is ruby red with a translucent shimmer. Smells like some other red wines in that it’s fruit and the smell of old places. (Like attics, cellars and libraries full of old books). Hint of savor. Like fresh steak or lamb. Flavors are excellent. Supple and fairly elegant. There’s a cherry streak, a black licorice streak, and brightness. It’s pretty Italian styled. I’d suggest there might be some Sangiovese and/or Barbera in it. And these are excellent CA Foothill grapes, so no surprise at its finesse and grace. This is a nice El Dorado red. I’d love to try the rest of their portfolio.
Website says, “…it’s a 4 way blend of Zinfandel, Grenache, Merlot and Mourvedre that will make your Tuesday night glass of wine Exciting Again.” — 2 years ago
Recently picked up at Renegade Wine in Santa Barbara. A touch cloudy with a dark garnet red. A bit of stewed fruit on the nose, followed up by earthiness and a hint of baking spices. Medium body with medium minus tannins (4/10). Similar notes on the palate and smooth rounded finish. Drink now. — 4 years ago

Really very nice. Ruby red and clear in the glass. Quite floral. Precise with good minerality and acid. Thoroughly enjoyable from a sort of renegade producer just outside Madrid. — 8 years ago
This tastes definitively like a persimmon with a knife-shaped seed. Like a steaming cup of lapsang souchong in an Ozarkian log cabin. This is that wine you pine for once every three years when you have reason to splurge a little, when you recall there is that one, renegade pinot noir that dares to be bold. — 9 years ago
Sipping Fine Wine
Blend of 83% Syrah, 14% Petit Verdot and 3% Malbec, deep Ruby red color with aromas of black fruits, baking spice and cedar notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry and ripe blueberry with pepper, oak, cacao and herb notes. Fine savory tannins, medium+ finish ending with fruit, oak and spice. Drinking well now, will improve! Nice! — 2 months ago
