Great white burgundy, with full, fruity flavor, but not sweet. Hint of oak and a hint of acidity make this a beautiful, crisp, yet full bodied wine. From Wall Street Journal Wines. Tasted 12 October 2022. — 4 years ago

2017 - omg so smooth and velvety. We loved it! Raspberry and toast — 7 years ago
Tasted following an interview with Ted Baseler (article on Chateau Ste. Michelle’s 50th Anniversary forthcoming in next month’s Somm Journal), the 2015 Eroica is the result of a long and fruitful partnership with Dr. Ernst Loosen. As such it sports an endearing touch of petrol on the nose, something I readily attribute to Rieslings from the Mosel. On the palate, its soft and round, with nice persistence. Gently dwindles to green tea and lime zest. 12.0% ABV 1.2% RS | Sample — 9 years ago

This wine takes me back to 1980. I had to check my very first wine journal, back when I was still a true wine novice.
What I wrote then was simple but telling: “wonderful, full, and ripe.” No elaborate analysis, just sheer admiration as my third wine ever.
Now, decades later, I taste it again. With experience, reference points, and countless glasses behind me. And yet, the remarkable thing is: my tasting note today aligns perfectly with what I wrote back then.
The wine remains classic, harmonious, and carefully crafted. Ripe fruit, integrated oak, soft tannins, and a long, elegant finish, exactly what you hope for in a Gran Reserva.
This time, I was particularly surprised at how astonishingly well it paired with smoked salmon and a touch of soy sauce.
Something I could never have imagined in 1980. Yet it worked beautifully: the wine’s umami embraced the salmon, and the soy’s saltiness found balance in the wine’s ripeness and softness.
A wine that has not only stood the test of time, but has also grown alongside my palate. Then impressive for its power and ripeness, now for its precision, balance, and classic craftsmanship.
Some first impressions, it seems, are simply right from the start. And in this price range it’s just a very good wine. — 6 months ago
Hard to beat for the price,
K&L notes,
The pristine condition of this stunningly copper-colored brandy is inspiring - it's gorgeous. In the nose there are delicate fragrances of spice, sesame seed, light oak, and baked pears; seven more minutes in the glass bring out pineapple, light toffee, milk, and brown sugar. The palate entry is elegant, composed, and moderately sweet in more of an oaky than a fruity way; by the midpalate stage, there's flavor evidence of ripe pear, white grapes, cake frosting, Oloroso sherry, orange peel, and dark honey. End up sugary sweet, satiny textured, and long in the throat. 4 Stars - Highly Recommended - Spirit Journal - F. Paul Pacult 40% ABV

Celebrating a journal publication... This Barolo is in a beautiful place right now. Showing bricking with a slightly lighter center hue. Softer nose, surprising for this cru, with bramble berry, rose perfume, dried leather, and pine needles. Velvet tannins with ripe acidity deliver juicy blackcherry fruit, with a slight kool-aid feel - in a good happy childhood memory kind of way - adding mid-palate sweetness. Finishes dry, yet strikingly balanced with integrated tannin and excellent length. Just a touch of oak hangs on. Medium weight and softening. Drink now with a little time in the glass. — 7 years ago
Wonderful Malbec blend. Smooth and deep red full bodied. Red fruit forward. Nice and lingers on the palate. Great with friends at UT School of Public Health Journal Club. — 9 years ago
Raspberry, a little white pepper and, earthy nose. Medium body.
Raspberry, pomegranate, and a little bit of tart cherry flavors.
Very tasty overall.

Received through the Wall Street journal wine club. This was an exceptional Prosecco. It was light and just the right side of dry. 10/10 would buy again. — 6 years ago
I’m thinking about starting a Grateful Journal. I’ve heard that writing down things you’re thankful for 5-10 mins before sleep helps you actually get the most from your sleep and also helps you wake up more energized. Tonight, my journal will note how thankful I am for friends who share great wine. @Frank this young beauty is sultry. Like making love on a hot summer’s night with the windows open. Opens with a pleasant earthy musk, meaty and gamey notes, and some fresh herbs, garrigue. Luscious and thicky-thick on the palate (see: Nelly). The red and blue fruits sing in wonderful harmony with the earthy, unadulterated tension just below the surface. Spicy, mineral, savory, and clean fruit all at once. Many years ahead. Perfect way to get in the Christmas spirit! — 8 years ago

Fantastico. This wine has converted me from Valpolicella-phobic to Valpolicella-philic. Sono molto entusiasta di questo vino (questionable spelling and grammar, here). Makes me think of a leather-bound journal containing Italian poetry written by hand with a flourish. Romantico. Vino di Vino. Buy again and again and again. — 10 years ago

How do I say it with grace, poise, and within the bounds of decorum… The Dundee Hills of Oregon are calling to me. In speaking with my work-make Tommy, who has lived in Oregon and has proven to be a more than reliable source of insight concerning every & anything from Oregon: the Dundee Hills have me. Hell I think he’s warned me more than once about their playful nature yet their powerful foundations… add the 2023 Artberry Maresh ‘Dundee Hills” Pinot Noir out of the Willametter Valley to it all. From the start, the ruby color is mesmerising. The nose seems to wake up with every instance of dropping my own within it. The palate is mildly chewy and lush. As it warms in the glass and starts to tell of its true nature, deep notes of hibiscus and bramble-berry that only expand ring true. — 5 months ago
