Everything beautiful at glen manor in the essence of the Merlot-led 2nd label. 72% of the STEEP sloped stuff! A pair of 14% contributors (PV and cf) add complexity and spice. This was a find effort for me quite decent Vintage!! Finally opening this bottle I received as a gift at our senior manager promotion dinner. Thought it would be over aged but still delicious! Bold, vibrant brick red in color. Strong flinty, slate aroma, not much fruit. Tastes of smoke and leather. Some fruit and round chocolatey notes almost. Pretty high tannins, good acidity and medium high body. Interesting and very enjoyable complexity. Nice treat on a “regular” Friday! — 4 years ago
Stags Leap Manor, as it was called in the 1920s, was known as one of the prominent country retreats in the Napa Valley at a time when resort and spa business was big. Pale lemon stone fruit and citrus aromas and toasty yeasty notes. On the palate melon, pineapple and pear, fresh & crisp with notes of oak, a bit creamy. Long finish with wet stone and mineral character, well balanced, stays crisp on ending. Nice! — 5 years ago

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
On the nose black currants, oak, plums, black cherries, Indian spices, licorice, tobacco leaf, black tea, herbs, dark chocolates, eucalyptus and peppercorn.
Full bodied with medium plus acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with plums, cherries, currants, oak, light vanilla, spices, espresso, earth, peppercorn, tobacco leaf and herbs.
Soft finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cranberries.
This is a very interesting red blend from Virginia. Showing nice complexity already, with a soft mouthfeel. Tasty and enjoyable.
Smells very much like a young Bordeaux right out of the bottle.
Needs an hour in a decanter to open up.
Once it opens up, the palate catches up to the Bordeaux Style as well.
Still young and needs a few years to mature. Showing good potential, and would be nice to revisit it in 3 years.
At this point, the Merlot is more dominant than the rest. Feels like a right bank Bordeaux. Spicy, tangy and entertaining.
Good by itself or with food. Really enjoyed the nose once it opened up. A very nice sipping wine.
A blend of 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 19% Tannant, 15% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc. Aged for 14 months in American oak barrels.
13.5% alcohol by volume.

Absolutely fantastic! At nine years old, this is just hitting the full effect of secondary bottle aging. Black cherries, coffee and liquored raspberries are framed by a simmered redux of eastern & baking spices. Almost as long as it is wide… The acidity is almost fully entwined with the tannins for a near seamless tour d’force. This fella is playing in the same sandbox with RdV’s Lost Mountain...it’s that good! 2 bottles remain in the cellar :) — 5 years ago
