3 years since last tasted and it’s great! I remember thinking I shouldn’t touch for awhile. I’d say it’s now in window and on the upslope.
Palate is great. Dense mouthfeel chocolate, candied currant, anise, rhubarb?, baking spices, and cedar with grainy, almost sandy tannin. Long finish. All of those things coming together pretty nicely. Upping a point.

Domaine Leflaive

Les Pucelles Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 1999

Light gold in glass. Awesome nose. Notes of lemon, apricot, petrol, crushed stone, cardamom spice and a little white clay. Rich and well balanced in the mouth. Long finish. Leaves a sweetness impression. Still young with great acidity, and on its upslope... Can get better with a bit more age I think. Great juice. — 6 years ago

Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay 1999

Light gold. Viscous like motor oil in the glass. Powerful nose. Notes of apricot, white clay, wet stone, some petrol, cardamom and oregano spice. Perfectly balanced in the mouth. Rich and palate staining. After 7 hours of air this was still improving. Still on the upslope of its life. — 7 years ago

Glad I have a bottle of this stashed away. I believe it’s one of only two bottles of white burgundy Michael Broadbent ever awarded 6*...

Domaine François Raveneau

Blanchot Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2000

Yellow gold, nice weight. Offers a nose that is textbook Raveneau Chablis. Sea shells, lemon, wet river stone, some honey and a little cardamom spice. Fruit forward. Fruit builds with air. Impactful finish. Lucious. More fruit than acidity. While great tonight this is still on the upslope. — 8 years ago

Clos Ste. Hune Alsace Riesling 1990

Medium gold color. Heavy in the glass with a huge perfumed nose. Notes of apricot, petrol, orange peel. Great balance with lots of acidity to match the rich fruit. Great wine. Still on the upslope. — 9 years ago

Upslope Syrah 2010

Hell yes you can taste the cold weather in this Cali juice. Very rare to truly experience the concentration of these Santa Barbara syrahs with a sense of any less than the beating sun. This is opposite. I taste elevation and wind. Dark fruit with absent attack. Interesting. Still lacking the complexity and any sign of minerals in that of rhone Syrah though. Signaling my palette's departure from typical Cali wines 👋🏼 — 11 years ago

Scarecrow

Monsieur Ètain Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Perfect way to end dry January. This was our last bottle, which is sad, because it has miles ahead and is still on the upslope. Rich fruit, sandalwood and cedar. Finish is smooth and viscous, almost syrup. — 4 years ago

Sonoma County Pinot Noir 2018

From Doris Christmas at May 2021. Had 2018 on 5/22/2021. Sultry, thicker than Burg. Breyers mint ice cream in nose with violet floral. Steroidal strength and structure compared to our usual upslope Côte d’Or. Zero tannin. Too much residual sugar. — 5 years ago

The Weight Old Vine Zinfandel 2015

😮 Wow. A serious, sexy beast. Blend of 80% old vine zin, 15% petit Syrah, 5% Syrah. Dry Creek appellation. The last vintage of this wine was 2016. This is going to age forever. Shelby and Peter relocated to the Eola-Amity Hills in the Willamette Valley and bought/planted Bracken vineyard. Planted just upslope from Sojourner, southwest facing, majority planted to Pinot with a small amount of Chardonnay. Shelby is a wizard. — 7 years ago

Domaine Pascal Cotat

Les Monts Damnés Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2002

Straw gold. Nice fruity nose. Notes of grapefruit, lemon, stone and a little spice. Wonderful in the mouth, has a nice richness with subtle but present acidity. So much more complex than the 2010 P Cotat next to it. Still on the upslope of its life and really good tonight. — 8 years ago

Nice, the '02 could have gone either way, always nice to read when it's still enjoyable.

N.P.U. "Nec Plus Ultra" Brut Champagne Blend 2002

Spectacular showing. Amazingly tropical this time with an almost pineapple topnote. Fantastically rich and dense, but acidity to balance. Perfect mousse. Definitely seems on the upslope. Up there with the Selosse. — 5 years ago

It’s fitting that my 2,500th wine entry is not only a gorgeous wine, but it’s a wine that was gifted to me by my good friend @Bill Bender . The people I have met, and the people I get to share wine with often, are what make wine such a beautiful experience. Kudos to the @Delectable Wine team for this knowledgeable and wine loving community.

I’m big fan of these wines. Lots of character and beautifully crafted. This wine is no different. At 11-12 years old, this is still on the upslope (though I think it will be there soon). I opened this yesterday with no decant and was greeted by lots of sweet, dark fruit coated in dark chocolate shavings. A condensed and powerful core of dusty currants and plums with some herbs. On day two, this hit full stride...added notes of espresso, savory peppercorns with floral potpourri on a seamless and integrated palate. The fruit is so incredibly pure and juicy without being overly sweet or candied! Delicious.

Domaine Dujac

Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2001

Tawny with some ruby in the center. Mostly translucent. Perfumed nose. Notes of sweet black cherry, earth, wet cedar, sandalwood and some tan spice. Has the funk. Still young in the mouth with some pucker that smoothes out with air. Nice showing. Still on the upslope. — 8 years ago
