Simoncini Vineyard Late Harvest Zinfandel 2005

Born in Croatia, made its way to southern Italy where it was named Primitivo. Fortunately, the imperial nursery of Vienna catalogued specimens of the vine, which sourced a journey to New England in 1829. In the true American spirit, Zinfandel found it’s home in California during the Gold Rush of 1849.
This Dessert Wine is bold, lots of spice with a light peppery finish, rich smooth and jammy.

Excellent but may have let it age too long. Expected to like this more than the ulises Valdez but did not. Still very good and complex and would get again — 5 years ago

Silver Eagle Vineyard Syrah 2016

A wonderful Pinot with great balance. The perfect amount of fruit up front and a very long and enduring finish. Exceptional wine. — 5 years ago

Ulises Chardonnay 2016

This wine was definitely structured, but I wonder if it was also a bit shut down too. This wine has a good Asian pear nose and a hint of peach. Very viscous opening. But a little muted throughout. Very satisfying by itself, but I imagine that any substantial fare would probably crush this one. I am hoping this wine might just be in a weird spot right now because I have had other wines from this producer and they've all outdone this one. — 6 years ago

Following Ulises Valdez 2014 and quite restrained and buttery by comparison. Also very good and opened up well — 5 years ago

Lucky Well U. V. Pinot Noir 2015

Ehren Jordan winemaking paired with Ulises Valdez grape growing (RIP)? I’m in on both counts. This has evolved like crazy since opening a few hours ago. I enjoyed that little bit of funk it had on initial pop but it has continued to put on weight over the last couple hours. Fruit continues to darken in profile. Started a bit burgundian with some earthy profile on the nose and a lean palate, now much more classic russian river. I dig the evolution, well made wine. — 5 years ago
