Red and blue fruits give way to orange zest , animal fur ,baking spices violets and minerals . Rich and full-bodied on the palate yet has Wonderful elegance and mineral infused finish with lingering cherry and dry extract . This wine comes from the valley floor and you get the richness and depth from the heavier soil. A stunning bottle that will improve over the next few years and last at least a decade more . — 7 years ago
A deep wine made by a coop. Very very good. Timorasso maceration — 7 years ago
Strawberry Citrus? Is that a thing? It is for this wine! If you can find it, buy a bunch, your glass will be empty quite quickly.
On the Lawn at Tanglewood tonight for our first (non-classical) show of the season. Tonight is NPR's live taping of Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me! Expect to hear me clapping somewhere in the background. The WWDTM team should have the show on the air by either this weekend or the following.

Raisins bit of Sherry-like taste. Not a lot of tanines but makes lips tingle. Quite nice and full. Easy enough to drink. — 5 years ago
More spice and less full fruit character than Central/Gibbston expression.. nose says plum but palate is dominated by Sour cherry giving freshness. Tasted back to back with the Etna, this lost bigtime. — 7 years ago

This is my favorite white wine. I’m a sucker for earthy/yeasty/cloudy wines in red so this is quite a surprise in white — 8 years ago
This is my new go-to pinot. Dark brooding and spicy. Very Gibbston Valley in character - almost up to Valli or Gibbston Valley single vineyard bottlings, but at half the price this is a strong buy. — 4 years ago

Dark and luminous. On the nose, this is a dead ringer for a big Gibbston Valley pinot. Red and black fruit, cherry, but the spice is the overriding trait. A very spicy cherry character with lovely silky mouthfeel. Broad but a little less structured and a bit shorter than a Valli or Gibbston Valley, but at $52, much better value. — 7 years ago

Drinking window is now. Israeli Syrah needs to be in the conversation. Displays exotic spices of mace and allspice but keeps its symmetry with blueberries and hanging gyro meat. Where this separates itself from the Rhône Valley or Washington is it’s unique numbing character. The finish leaves your palate with the same sensation Szechuan peppercorns demonstrate. Structured tannins accentuate it’s fleshiness and edginess. Savory lovers unite on this one. — 8 years ago
