It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!
Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Nice nose of blue and black fruits with light wood, spices, licorice, light earth, vegetables, herbs, tobacco leaf and dark coffee.
Full-bodied with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cherries, light oak, spices, chocolates, licorice, coffee, tobacco leaf, earth and black pepper.
Nice length on the finish with fine grained tannins, raspberries and peppercorn.
This 7 year old Merlot from Bordeaux is peaking now, and will continue to drink nicely in the next few years. Complex and interesting.
I had this vintage 3 years ago, and it hasn't changed much, except that the nose has become noticeably prettier.
Needs a couple of hours to open up properly so be patient.
Good by itself and better with food. I paired it with grilled picanha.
A blend of 71% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc.
13.5% alcohol by volume.
90 points.

A delicious left bank Bordeaux which greatly beneifted from a 60+ minute decant. The nose presents fig jam & blueberry along with notes of anise, cocoa, and pencil lead. The palate is impressively well balanced with flavors of blueberry and blackberry along with tertiary notes of sage & leather along with well integrated tannins and a bright acidity. Paired equally well with both filet mignon on day 1 & burgers on day 2! ($33) [5/27/22] — 3 years ago
Soft butter notes, with hints of butterscotch and pear. Light oak medium acidity a very nice Chardonnay for any occasion. — 3 months ago
Oak, lime like herb in aroma. Rich, citrus, white flowers. Citrus, comfortable acidity. Each factor in the taste is showing the feature clearly. From Hunter valley which is an initial place for wine in Australia. Vat 47 Hunter Chardonnay Tyrrell’s 2018 @7546, Toscany JH, 231028-231111 — a year ago

A mid straw yellow in colour. Aromas are lemon and lime, lemongrass, mineral, wet hay with toastiness and lanolin starting to emerge at 13 years of age. Light bodied but great intensity - a richer texture for a Semillon, bearing in mind that this wine sees no oak at all - stainless steel all the way. Only 11% alcohol. Luckily I have 4 bottles left - a cellar life extending to 2030+. — 4 months ago
Very smooth. Nice finish. 2019 on 5/27/23 — 2 years ago
