Les Grandes Vignes Chablis Chardonnay 2022

Saint-Bris “Chenevières” Sauvignon Blanc 2022
Chablis, Burgundy, France 🇫🇷

Reims, Champagne, France 🇫🇷

Overview
A vintage Champagne crafted from 50% Pinot Noir & Pinot Meunier and 50% Chardonnay, showing the elegance and character of the superb 2018 harvest in Reims. A balanced Brut at 10 g/L dosage, it reflects both richness and freshness, with solid aging potential.

Aromas & Flavors
On the nose, vibrant lemon zest, crisp apple, and bergamot with green tea accents. With aeration, deeper notes of peony, cherry, biscuit, redcurrant, and honey unfold. The palate is expressive, velvety, and savory, with ripe fruit, fine bubbles, and layered complexity.

Mouthfeel
Rounded yet energetic, with vinous character and supple mousse. Richness from dosage is perfectly balanced by tension and freshness on the finish. Built to age, but already seductive now.

Winemaking Notes
Produced only in high-quality vintages, with a focus on extended lees aging. The 2018 vintage in Champagne was marked by ideal conditions—hot, dry summer with ripe grapes, yielding wines of both concentration and precision.

Food Pairing
A gourmet’s Champagne: pairs beautifully with sweet & sour canapés, exotic lightly spiced cuisine (roast hake with turmeric sauce, poultry kebabs), and can even stand up to richer flavors like black pudding with pineapple.

Verdict
A vintage Champagne of elegance and personality—expressive, velvety, and complex. A connoisseur’s favorite, with years of life ahead but irresistible today. 🥂✨

Les Vieilles Vignes Muscadet Sevre et Maine 2015

Vintage 2013 | incredible how Muscadet gains in complexity and finesse after aging. This bottle is made of 60 years old vines and was ‘sur lie’ for 36 months on 50 procent acacia and 50 procent oak barrels. Such a surprise. Tasted in 2018, now 4 years later: creamy minerality in a velvet taste. Paired with beetroot salad as first dish and codd fillet with cauliflower. It makes my evening. Gonna buy more. — 3 years ago

Nuits St. Georges Les Grandes Vignes Pinot Noir 2018

Rich dark brooding nose of black cherry and spice. Follow through on the pallet w a hint of sassafras. Great length. Could use another couple of years. Too bad current vintages have reached unaffordable levels — 4 months ago

Clos des Grandes Vignes Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2014

Always such a thrill to drink CLB. It’s consistently distinctive with stunning aromatics, piercing fruit purity and an elegant, balanced and vibrant palate. 2014 took a little more coercing than 2013, but it comes around to show what a special plot it is. NSG with Vosne flair. Always a treat. — 4 years ago

Vins Eric et Bérengère Thill

Les Grandes Vignes Poulsard

2023 vintage. Another delicious Poulsard from Eric Thill. Typical light transparent ruby red colour. Delicate perfume of pomegranate, cuberdons, and flowers. Fresh, crispy red fruit, with light, velvety tannins and amazing length for such a light wine ( abv. 12%, which is slightly higher than the previous vintage). Very small production, a hard find, but well worth seeking out. — a year ago

Cuvée Romane Savagnin

2022 vintage. A blend of 90% Savagnin (aka Traminer) and 10% Chardonnay from the " Grandes Vignes" vineyard ( Eric Thill also produces a 100% Chardonnay from this plot). Indigenous yeasts. Aged 10 months in stainless steel. Very low in alcohol (12,5%, whereas the 2018 was 15%!). Nose needs some air, decanting recommended. Clean, fresh, with subtle spices enhancing the fruit. Very good length too. Paired with black Camargue rice, fennel, and duck. This wine works really well with fennel ( not the easiest vegetable to combine with wine). Another great effort from this excellent estate. — a year ago
