I think @Jordan Mackay described this wine to a tee. While I enjoyed it, I wonder if it’s 100% Carignan. Could there possibly be an error in the identification of the variety? It is actually quite common in Californian vineyards and especially older vineyards to have a mix of varieties or believe it’s one variety because that’s how it was bought, but DNA testing can be surprising. This seems much more Gamay to me. In Paso Robles for example I know of some pretty famous winemakers and important vineyards that thought they had Mourvèdre and it turned out to be Graciano. — 6 years ago

GORGEOUS Côtes du Rhône. From the folks of team Rayas. I want it with dinner and another bottle for dessert. @Jordan Mackay, this is what "Côtes du Rhône with some age on it, for less than $$$" got me. Brilliant challenge question for @Andy Chabot . — 8 years ago

With input from Sara Kavanaugh and @Jordan Mackay, I set up some wine challenges for @Andy Chabot. "High minerality, full to medium bodied white" yielded this amazingly supple and rich Viognier. — 8 years ago

Really liked this. Super creamy and somewhat lemony. I got notes of vanilla, graham crackers, moss, and some floral nuances. Yum! — 7 months ago
