The fellas who run Les Lunes are best in the biz at Carignan. This, as it goes, is excellent Carignan, from a different block showing in the profile (but Delectable makes it hard to add a new wine). It's perfumed and elegant, loaded with spice and tannin, and about as fully steeped concentrated with flavor as anything you'll find in. Vietnamese cinnamon dusted raspberries, black plums, and cedar. Highly acidic, though not abruptly tart and with big, well integrated tannins. Light bodied and plenty of minerals to follow. — 4 years ago
Light gold. Looks young. Took 5 hours to open up and show its stuff. In hour 6 this was cruising. Saline and sea shells, wispy lemon fruit, some honey, some white stone. The guesses from the fellas were 2002 Rav Clos and 1996 Rav Valmur. Shows how these properly stored aged Raveneaus can age effortlessly. — 4 years ago
Ripe, Primary. Not very descriptive. Overripe NoCal Syrah is definitely not my jam. More for the other fellas. A well made wine but not my style and I’d never buy it. — 6 years ago
A perfect summer wine! Light, dry, unfiltered. — 3 years ago
Dark reddish amber. Deep color in the center, opaque; clear rims showing its age. Great nose… my wife would say “stinky feet”, something I just call “the funk”. Notes of black cherry, gravel, violets, musty cellar and black pepper. Very much alive in the glass and showing lots of fruit when it hits the mouth. Guesses by the fellas were early 90s La La, and one 78 La La. At first this was very much Cote-Rotie like, but with air it evolved into and out of acting as such. Pretty happy this has held up like it has. (Bday 10 of 12) — 3 years ago
