Had in Woodinville Purple Cafe. Great Rose, to our taste. — 10 years ago
Red blend of equal parts Syrah & Cabernet Sauvignon. Aromas of herbs, fragrant coffee and cherries. Blackberries and cherry flavors are self- indulgent and linger on the finish. Benefits from aeration. — 10 years ago
Great find at the coast, plenty of heft still left in this bottle easily another 5 years. — 10 years ago

Love this wine I found in Woodinville, WA! Rich and smooth in texture. Delicious. — 10 years ago
While at Total Wine, I picked up the previous Novelty Hill bottle and this Januik Merlot, (the Cabernets are a bit out of my price range at the moment). As mentioned previously, these wineries share a tasting space in Woodinville, WA. Mike Januik, the winemaker and owner of the Januik label, has been labeled one of the "Masters of Merlot" and, as the name implies, specializes mainly in Bordeaux grapes sourced from mature vineyards around the Columbia Valley. 2013 was a warmer year towards harvest than the previous two vintages, yielding in changes to the flavor profile of many of the grapes in the Columbia Valley due to the longer hang time on the vine. This wine is composed of 96% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon (likely to add a tad more tannic structure), harvested from Weinbau, Klipsun, and Ciel du Cheval vineyards and seems like it could benefit with another year or two under its belt. ~$22 | #januik #merlot #columbiavalley
On the eyes: Med opacity, bright, magenta-garnet, med stain, med+ tears. No gas, evidence of floc.
On the nose: Cherry, black plum, orange peel, dried hay, herbaceous, with a hint of chocolate, med+ alcohol.
On the tongue: Med+ tannin, med acid, med+ alcohol, med+ body. Cherry, black plum skin, and blueberry yielding to hints of menthol, chocolate, and cedar with a pleasant long oaky finish. — 10 years ago

Silky, smooth Right bank style blend of 53 Merlot, 29 Cabernet Franc 13 Cabernet Sauvignon, 4 Malbec and 1 Petite Verdot from the Stillwater creek Vineyard Blueberries, Vanilla, blackberry jam and fine tannins.p95 points Wine SpectatorbrThis has great presence, offering a dense cloud of blackberry, cherry and spice flavors that hover over a sleek frame of fine tannins, with just enough acidity to keep it fresh. The finish sails on beutifully. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Petite Verdot. Winemaker Lance Baer founded Baer Winery in 2000 with a single passionato bring something unique to Woodinville. After years of working with some of the most prestigious wineries in the area, Lance wanted to take his winemaking skills in his own, creative, direction. Lance succeeded in handcrafting blends distinctly his own, and in April 2003 the wineryas signature blend, Ursa, was released. Smooth, big wine. Lots of cherry and a kind of liquorice/coffee/vanilla/coconut flavour. From woodinville. — 10 years ago
2014 vintage. Mark Ryan makes powerfully wonderful Bordeaux blends. Here is another blend which is cabernet dominant. I am so thankful to be living so close to their tasting room in Woodinville, Washington. Unfortunately I am not alone, and these wines sell out each year. A typically tannic cab that displays it's fruit and earthiness. A pleasure to drink with a serious steak. — 10 years ago
A previously reviewed Columbia Valley winery, Novelty Hill leverages winemaker Mike Januik's expertise in crafting this label, (independent of Januik's own winery, which shares a tasting room space with Novelty Hill in Woodinville, WA). The Woodinville area is a compact hub of Washington wine makers, ~30 minutes outside of Seattle (depending on traffic...), that is home to over 130 distinct winery tasting rooms that showcase the potential of the wines sourced from the Pacific Northwest AVAs. The area owes it's existence to the prodigious Chateau Ste. Michelle's decision to lay roots in Woodinville. This bottle was picked up at a Total Wine and paired with a red sauce linguine. Delish! ~$20 | #noveltyhill #columbiavalley #cabernetsauvignon
