Lover of: all things light, minerally, & red; in search of the perfect Chenin blanc, cru Beaujolais, mountain Nebbiolo, & varietals unknown.
Always worth a revisit- Thanksgiving wine, more grapefruit zest than I remember, to be drunk near room temp like a light red. Savory & iodine edges. — 23 days ago
My first stab at 1/2 of the dynamic duo’s effort. Tiny berry intensity & dark cherries on nose; on palate more of that intensity & small berry thing- the fruit is quite lush & generous, with an elegant & serious tannin frame demanding some time & air. A brooding quality smashes into Monty Python? Which is to say decanting moves the whole show in the right direction, & I found my self marveling at the QPR as the wine deepened & softened. I want to say there is some odd humor in the labels portrait of the vintner, given the semi stoic painting & from what I might infer to be a less mannered & more of a wild man character, but what do I know? It’s a fascinating tip of the wine hat, so to speak. — a month ago
The gaminess & ferality have calmed down, & now a big, almost Golden Retriever of a wine (tasted blind one friend thought Cabernet Sauvignon). Still, for me these deliver absurd quality on the dollar. Black fruits, chalky, deep cassis & black earth accents on the long finish. Certainly gaining more polish with age as tannins better integrated. — 13 days ago
Grainy small blackberries & black cherries on the nose and palate- vibrant & satisfying. Deeper extraction than I remember from past vintages — 23 days ago
Last of my bottles & a bit sad to see it go- these were soulful wines, demanding not just in managing & extracting their corks but in leaning in to taste what they have to say. After a double decant & cheesecloth/strainer, tasted over 2 days, using a half bottle for day 2. What I loved was the wholeness & evocativeness of the wine, with all the parts having melded; fairly closed on nose but by day 2 old forest floor, rose hips, & black tea leaves; on palate all that & rose petals, dried cherries. The drinking window is closing as previous Delectable users have noted, but what a cool sunset. — a month ago
No notes; A beefier Ribera Sacra I’ve come back to several times. Deelish, clean, red fruits. — 19 days ago
On Palate: Fine toothed, luscious, Sunday morning bacon, deep black cherries. Smooth, silky tannins. Nose open knit plus all these notes, with an inviting petrol, savory tone. Enchanting. 90 % Syrah/10 Viognier. — 19 days ago
Thanksgiving wine- Catalanes red, 65% Carignan & 35% Syrah done up nice & dense almost like a baby CDF but less raspberry & more dark berry. Drank a 100% Carignan right after so interesting to compare. Very good & fresh style, but still more brooding & extracted given the Syrah I imagine. Throws off sediment so worth a decant. A better than usual villages- plumper & serious-perhaps more of the Cote De Puy/Amour cru style — a month ago

Most Macon Chards I’ve had feel like a “ through the looking glass” experience— a few substantial layers removed from the “real” (ie Proper Burgundy) deal; but not this bottle. Velvety texture, full but delicate in the mouth; dandelions & spring grass field after a rain; on palate has this wonderful crushed minerality- almost volcanic, yellow fruits, & the 10 months in barrel are more like a caress than an announcement. Joyous juice, & so amped for the next bottles. — 5 days ago
