39$. Besides Enderle & Molls Pinot based Rosé for less $$$ - this is one of the best on the the planet. But 39$. Yet worth it. Dense, dark, almost like a Pinot, tannic, Rasberries, Strawberries, Cherry, Melon, Basil comes to mind???? may be. The 2023 is very very fruit driven - what a wine. From Max Kogod. He is a little more expensive but has unique stuff. — 4 days ago
Of the box. And yes Lyle will kill me for not waiting. But F…..yeah. This is the best most different vintage they ever made. Black currants, raspberries really and i mean really - juicy oh man this is insane drinkable. Light 12% with some acids so much grace and balance. Tasted this vintage in the cellar in May. Unreal vintage across the board. A different take than in the past. Stylistically different but boy is this good. — 5 days ago
Impressive, Cranberry, touch volatile acid, cherry, juicy, lots of tannins. This is really good and reminds me of the Burghs in the old old days before they did get stylized. Biodynamic, 13%. — 3 days ago
Will rate this on Monday. Hosting a wine tasting with wines which were requested to be buttery, massive, big, jammy and inexpensive. This one has 15%+ . So there is hope. — 4 days ago
Very dense and big! Could go for another 10-15 years. I like Ziereisen wines and met him. Yet i prefer more elegant renditions. Quite dark. Cherry, blackberry, lime, cherry. Super complex. Plenty of acids. If you have this in your cellar you are in for a treat. Ziereisen is a little bit full of himself rightfully so but still - i prefer the humble. — 4 days ago
Trader Joe’s. Long gone! For 15$ quite good! This is the 2019 - one of the best vintages in Piedmont. So - in this case even lousy cheapo wineries made great wine. Tastes like 40$. Roses, super astringent, violets. Hint Eucalyptus. A little rough: Bought a case most gone should have bought 2 - will age the last 3 bottles just out of curiosity - could go another 5-10 years. Thanks Scott for this find!!! — 6 days ago
Old Burghs - so whatever. Always a gamble! Not convinced. Initially interesting but then seems to be dried out and just OK. Cigar box mostly - limited fruit. The wine is alive and and has plenty of tannins left. But it just does not sit right. Drink up or get rid of it. More tomorrow may be it saves itself after being under Argon for 12 hours. Nope dumped the rest. — 4 days ago
Absolutely top. Comes across as fine-herb. Pretty sure this has residual sugar. But hey this is a world class wine. Apricots, Mirabellen, stone fruit, touch herbs, hint passionfruit. Surprisingly tannic. Touch astringent. Bottom line Riesling does not get better than this. The rest is just personal preferences. One has to be an idiot to not like this. + This is one of the the top vineyards next to the Mosel river. — 4 days ago
Richer and bigger than a Mosel Riesling. But more fine cut than a Pfalz Riesling. This village is across from Straßburg about 30 min in Germany. 13%. Grown on Granite. The only village - Durbach - in Baden that is focused exclusively on Riesling. On the slopes of the black Forest - essentially Black Forest Riesling! A top 10 German Riesling. And this is Andreas Laible’ top vineyard. Next time i will share flavor profile notes. Otherwise look at Lyles! — 6 days ago
Pinotman /// Andreas
Quite rich and big. Hint roasted hazelnuts meyer lemon. Clearly high quality juice. Some tannins. Hint orange juice. Touch pineapple. Overall lacks depth. Nice though but $$$. — 6 hours ago
