Big Nose Full Body Wine Sales in Brooklyn. “May I finish that Riesling?”
Grapes from Red Hills Lake County. Lots of structure on top of cassis, blackberry, licorice, and cinnamon. Great concentration and consistency for Cali Cab in this range. Might be too broad shouldered for your average fruit bomber. — 6 days ago
Polished, heady, and flavorful. Smooth PnP.
Not as energetic on day 2, which I often find with Grenache. — 12 days ago
Wine 1, with rack of lamb. As my drinking history shows, Raffault is a perennial favorite. 2017 is easy access with medium weight, wild red berry fruit, tomato leaf, and earth. Drink over the next five years. Holding ‘09, ‘14, ‘15, and ‘18 with patience. — a day ago
Very enjoyable left bank bottling for $35 on the shelf, if not pretty closed. Decanted for 2+ hours and was just starting to reveal itself, still somewhat shy after 4+. Blackberry, stewed mulberry, earth, coffee grounds, garden, and spice. Not overly ripe or concentrated with a subtle bitter balance. Curious to see what day 2 is like. Good value candidate for cellaring though I wouldn’t hate a bit more acidity. — 3 days ago
More expensive every vintage and still worth it in my opinion. More about pleasure than complexity. Consistently delicious juice. — 12 days ago
No oak. Ten months on lees. Fruit from the Freedom Hill vineyard. Young vines finding their footing. Chenin vibes with wool and honeysuckle. Awesome texture and tension. Great packaging. — 6 days ago
“Let Me Roilette” Sappy blackberry, black cherry, licorice, and gravel. Almost mouth coating. Big but definitely not bad. — 18 days ago
Austin Hohnke
Wine 2, with rack of lamb. Decanted for 6+ hours. Brambly fruit, blackberry, briar, cocoa, and oak. Plenty of tannins to work through. These wines need a ton of time to really express themselves. Definitely not a pop and pour. Holding ‘15, ‘16, ‘17, ‘18, ‘19, and ‘20.
Gonna be a really fun vertical in 2030 and beyond. — a day ago
