Med concentration with a ruby core and salmon-orange rim. Evolved nose with no freshness and abv sticking out. Med intensity and complexity showing ripe red fruit and lots of forest aromas. The structure was a little flabby with med acid and gritty tannins. Initial funk of light-spoil-fruit, wet under dry leaves, freeze dried raspberry, dried sour cherry, fresh potabello and earth turn slowly to only mushroom funk and pretty powdered raspberry and cranberry, dried rose petal cocoa powder and chicory. Becomes tart, warm raspberry on the nose and palate upon entry. This village wine has held up really well, the cork itself was mint, a great first sign. The color was slightly hazy from fine powdery sediment, even after being vertical a few hours.

The nose is deep, showing maturity and complexity. Cave aged cheese, fall leaves, redwood timber, a touch of iron and meat...quite serious bur feral in its deviation from the norm of VR.

The palate shows fine but a little extra grain in the tannin make the structure stand out. Though the subtle acidity is well integrated.

Good but expected a little more.

I tasted this #1985 #grandsechezeaux from #drc last year at this time. There has been some nice development. It's heavily perfumed with good intensity and concentration.
