Numanthia Toro Tempranillo

Very modern style Tempranillo. Huge and bombastic with an intense nose mixing violets, cherry, and vanilla. Jammy and creamy, the 2012 has definitely hit the peak of its aging. Tons of red fruit flavors that eventually meld into leather and earth. Slight amount of sulfur-y smoke finishes it off for a long lingering end.

Rich and structured. Great balance, velvet tannins still have some grip, black cherry, wet soil, charcoal flavors aromas. Alcohol nicely integrated, great wine for stews, grilled meats. Had the 2012 in 2017, nice now but can age many more years as well.

Always a quality Spanish blend, albeit with large price fluctuations. If you want to tease your dentist, drink this before you go and see them. A real teeth stainer.

Big, modern , extracted. Relatively balanced however. Moderately long finish with a good nose and soft tannic structure.

PnP. Nose full of mocca, chocolat and tar.
Drinking very smoothly with an exciting play of sweet and acidity.
The 15% alc is not burning or what so ever. Well made wine.

Monster of a wine, stunning depth & extraction / concentration of flavors so impressive: no signs of age - this has at least 20 yrs ahead, tons of ripe almost stewed dark fruit (black profiled blackberry & prune, black cherry) w/rich soil, dusty edges, evolved over time w/some hi-toned expression, scorched Earth, caramel, coffee made appearances... endless length w/sturdy structure yet caressing tannins. I’ve had this wine many times and it never disappoints.

Wendy 50th. $120 at faena. Good dark fruit peppery nose with full body slightly too oaky for my palate but the black fruit and mouthful let me overcome that issue as it bursts with flavor

Served at The Bird as well during the meal. I had luck with these wines in the past. I think Termes is a better short term drinker than Numanthia is a long term holder. Lots of roasted black fruit on the front and middle, this one just doesn't have the finish or structure. Could this be in an odd place? Surely. Not really decanted for that long before serving, but the Sequel dispatched of it rather quickly both in flavor and complexity. The more I think about it, there is a 2 point difference in the 2 wines.

Nose is plum, caramel, barnyard funk and spice. The palate is butterscotch and spice with a hint of black pepper. Medium tannins and acid.

Still very young. Opened nicely with air and time. Still needs to be decanted.
