Colossal Reserva Syrah Blend
30/30/30/10 blend of Touriga Nacional, Syrah, Tinta Roriz, Alicante Bouschet. Dense purple. Vanilla and violet notes in nose. Cherry, blackberry and black currant flavors with length, colossal chewy tannins (as advertised), more skin astringency than seed bitterness initially. Delicately massive initially, but tannins soften substantially after 45 minutes. Decant before serving for a nice Portuguese red.

Jun 23rd, 2019Dark inky in color with a short purple rim.

Full bodied and bold with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, vegetables, spices, smoke, earth, graphite, bitter vegetables, wet rocks, tobacco, herbs and peppercorn.
Nice length on the finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a very nice red blend from Portugal. Well balanced with nice complexity and a great mouthfeel. Big and bold with earthy notes on the nose, but fruity on the palate.
Needs some time to open up and I used the Vspin for 10 minutes and that worked out very well. Peaking now.

Great deal for the price. Medium but juicy with light acidity and bright flavors. Good crowd pleaser and good to drink while socializing and not thinking too hard about what’s in the glass.

2 people found it helpfulNov 11th, 201830% Touriga Nacional, 30% Syrah, 30% Tinta Roriz, 10% Alicante Bouschet. Huge wine. The bottle I drank was 3 years old which is way too young to be drinking this wine. Dark fruit layed with plenty of tannins. Would aim to drink this wine in more of the 5 year or older mark.

Jul 22nd, 2022Really nice syrah, not too jammy/sweet but still nice fruit, not too alcohol forward. Complex with really nice lingering creamy aftertaste. Would def get again, I think it's cheap at Costco.

Jan 22nd, 2021Aroma of tart blackberries, with a taste to match. Moderate tannins and light to medium body. Worth a try for anyone who likes big fruit, but a little more acidic than I like.
