Côte de Léchet Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay

Can’t imagine a 1er Cru Chablis more classic. Cheese rind, chalk, and lemon rind.

Lemon curd, toast points, and rock salt. The added complexity from the 1er cru lieu dit doesn’t go unnoticed :)

This light, bright green-gold colored beauty has a mouthwateringly zingy nose of citrus-drenched limestone and a bit of brothy earthiness. So lively and fresh, with medium body and such pure flavors of hay-inflected green apple and cracked stones. Fantastic acidity. Really nice. Great way to get in the mood to grill a butterflied leg of lamb!

At first I thought this was a bit oxidized, but now I think it just needed to seriously open up (like 2hrs). I guess it’s that old? Nose had a whiff of detergent to it for the first hour+ then became much more rounded with a touch of acidity.

Unusually tropical and lush for Chablis. Party in a glass

Pleasant enough but not memorable. Will cellar the balance of the case in hope in develops over time in the bottle.
