Domaine Drouhin
Dundee Hills Pinot Noir
Not as polished as other Drouhin offerings I’ve had. There’s a sharpness to the acidity that seems pretty out of whack.
Better on day two where the fruit is fuller and more expressive, and the wine more assertive.

Jun 2nd, 2019Tonight's offering is the 2015 Domaine Drouhin Dundee Hills Pinot Noir. This wine I picked-up a few days back and have been wanting to try this for sometime.
On the nose is cherry, strawberry, raspberry, mushroom, vanilla, spice wet leaves and rich clay.
On my palate I am getting tart cherry, strawberry, raspberry, cola, sassafras, spice, rich dusty soil, herbs and rose floral note
This wine is medium to full bodied that has a fine splendor mouth feel, medium + acidity and medium + smooth tannins that leads to a long beautifully balanced fresh finish. The Willamette Valley is my go to for pinot noir and this wine proves it. What a beautiful start to the week, stay safe and make it a great week. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Jan 18th, 2019Solid Pinot. Way closer to Burgundy than a lot of the West Coast Pinots. Smooth and balanced. Very interesting undertones. Polished and elegant. James Suckling gave this wine 95 pts, a bit of grade inflation perhaps. Upped my rating 11/22/18 to 92 after revisiting this wine when pairing it with our Thanksgiving meal. Delicious!

May 6th, 2018Very elegant, linear, focused and bright. Aromatics came on gradually and eventually showed excellent freshness and a floral dimension. Medium palate weight, good depth and core on the first night showing a decidedly high-toned, crunchy cherry and cranberry personality. Some sandalwood and crushed rock minerality going on as well. Firm tannins and solid structure. Threw a fair amount of sediment at the end and seemed a bit wilted on the second night. Despite that disappointment, this is certainly a fine Pinot Noir from an excellent vintage. It speaks of its place, shows restraint and balance and is an honest wine that isn’t trying to do too much. Good benchmark for quality in this price range if you’re looking for elegance and Burgundian character.

Mar 27th, 2018Beyond being a bit overly youthful, this is a pretty nice Pinot. Well integrated oak with nice cinnamon and molasses spice overlays concentrated dark berry fruit. Tannins are fairly firm; in a couple 2-3 more years this will be a beaut.
