Baden Spätburgunder Rosé
So...I had a birthday a couple weeks back and due to scheduling, my regular bottle finishing team wasn't available until now, so we're finally doing it up in my grand, unique style.
Notes possibly tomorrow, scores honestly tonight.
Decanted 6H.
24-Hour Update:
Nose has cedar, over-ripe cherry, crushed red currant, crisp red pepper slice, old leather, blackberry jam, over-ripe cranberry, black pepper and dry garden soil.
Palate has strawberry jam, tart cherry, dried cherry, orange zest, blackberry fruit gummy, dried tangerine, volcanic rocks and warm molasses cookie.
In a fine spot, anyone holding this in proper storage could probably expect this to live to a 10th birthday.

Orange! Dark for a Rose. The classic E&M herbs on the nose thyme, rosemary,...boy this one looks spectacular just buy it for the color? Complex and long slightly bitter, fresh, acidic, lime, forest strawberries and a little elderberry on the back palate. Would pair super well with stinky cheese or really anything. Could be mistaken for a cocktail with some drops of a bitter. I would think this needs to be aged - man is this awesome💥💥💥. A stand out for a Rose there is nothing like it out there. I have no idea how Sven and Florian do this - the most complex rose ever. Therefore very highly rated. But alas more for geeks the crazy ones, the square pegs....others might be disappointed by this really unique beast. I should have bought cases.....

1 person found it helpfulAug 2nd, 2016This is ridiculous. Most interesting rose I've ever had. Nose is yeasty, earthy, minerally, so ripe and sappy. I could sniff this for hours. Way more depth of flavor than even good roses too: it's like sending a perfectly extracted Pinot red to a custom car shop to make into an awesome wine you can serve chilled. Terrific length and freshness. Dang! @Lyle Fass better get some more of this! (Oh, and another thing. I had to decant it because it threw a pant load of sediment . . . which is a GOOD thing!)

May 7th, 2017Essentially orange in color. Great freshness high acidity. Fresh herbs - mostly thyme! Raspberry back palate and a hint of camembert from spontaneous fermentation? A standout Rose as always and one of a kind - can't wait for my case of the 15. Great on its own or with a nice salad perhaps with smoked trout? From Lyle Fass. Also available from some stores in New York. But i think the 14' might be gone.
