Frank Family Vineyards
Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Enticing deep ruby color and concentrated aromas of dark fruit and cedar. Nice layers of fruit, blackberry & sweet plum with a slight earthy scent. The wine is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 3% and 7% Cabernet Franc and aged for 20 months in 30% new French oak. This full bodied wine finished with notes of tobacco and earthy notes, muted oak, was well balanced with solid tannin structure. Delightful! Great value.

1 person found it helpfulAug 23rd, 2017This Friday, my Cabernet fix is this wonderful Napa jewel, a bit young, but already delicious.
Purple in color with a purplish rim.
Fruity nose of cherries, blueberries, plums, wood, licorice, spices, dark chocolates, black pepper, earth, sage, vanilla, tobacco, herbs and leather.
Medium plus in body, smooth and juicy, with medium acidity and nice long legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, plums, cherries, currants, oak, vanilla, licorice, cloves, earth, leather, green pepper, mocha, espresso, chocolates, tobacco, beef jerky and peppercorn.
Long finish with firm tannins and tangy cherries.
This is a great Napa Cabernet. Well balanced with nice acidity to make it interesting. Complex with lots of coffee and chocolate notes. Enjoyable by itself or with food, like BBQ Meats.
Could use 3 to 5 years to mature, and will get even better a decade later.
Robert Parker 91 points.
A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc. Aged for 20 months in French oak barrels.
14.5% alcohol by volume.

Apr 22nd, 2017A visit from ol reliable while out and about tonight. When Frank Family is on, it's delicious, just like this '13. Drinking really nice at a young age. Epitomizes Napa Cabs currently with bold and fruit driven flavors. A lot of red fruits on the nose like raspberries, but the darker blueberries came through on the tongue. The fruit seems a bit extracted...medium oak presence. This is a crowd pleaser when needing to satisfy a large group.
Happiest of New Years to my DL family. 2016 was my first DL year, and it's been a great experience getting to share great wines with y'all. Thank you for your insights...it's been an honor. Cheers to 2017!
