Dec 24th, 2021Nicely balanced. Luscious. Not the rustic side of Crozes … more like it was wearing a suit rather than the traditional overalls.

Jun 26th, 2021Tight - needs some time to open.
Smells of caramelized fig -
Heavy in body, a touch of barnyard at the start, to evolve into a tart trail mix, low powdery tannins, medium acidity, a fine wine for the eve.
Update - this particular batch was Brett heavy, and never opened up to reveal any fruits.

2015 Jabolet Domaine de Thalabert Crowe’s Hermitage—Earthy/mineral nose with dark, juicy fruit aromas. Very dry with blackberries and cassis, licorice, black pepper. Ripe fruit entry that expands mid palate, mouth filling with firm structure and fine grained tannins. Long, lingering finish. A memorable wine.

Mar 11th, 2018Thick purple-red in color and medium-high viscosity; first impression on the nose is a chloride and earth-metall minerality with savoury peppery notes and dark cherries and mulberries in the background; taste shows low alcohol and acids and high tannins which makes for an unbalanced structure and the mid-palate is weak; the finish is fairly long, tannic and dark fruity. This Jaboulet doesn't live up to its normally high standards, maybe we can blame it on an overall poor vintage. Can't wait to try the -15s.

Aug 11th, 20172017 vintage. Much more depth and complexity compared to the 2014 I had lately. Very dark cherries, spices and a hint of leather. In the mouth layers of black cherry and amarena cherries, a slight jamminess balanced by good acidity. Retronasal amerana cherries. Very good length. The benchmark wine for Crozes-Hermitage. Highly recommended. 29 euro. Abv. 13,5%.
