The color is very opaque. The leg drip is 9 seconds at 3/4 glass start to 1/4 glass. The boquet is blackberry pie. There is no tanic / alcohol aroma at all. The initial palate is that of blackberry, currant, cigars, and pepper. The finish is butter. No aftertaste. It is dry, but not over done! Perfection in a wine. Finally!!!!!!!!!!! worth every penny!

Continue on the @shafervineyards train. Pure cabernet fruit. Reflects the vintage, but still fruity Cali wine. Delish!

Deep dark red. Classy nose with blueberries, cassis, cedar wood and a hint of graphite, reminescent of Pauillac. Perfect balance, real depth, well-handled oak and long aftertaste. Great effort for the vintage.2011 vintage, abv. 15,1 %. 55 euro.

Not sure where to rate this. The nose is a gorgeous deep blue fruit, violets and subtle anise. Similar fruits are detectable in the palate just before the overwhelming alcohol burns and powers over everything until the finish, with chewy tannins, eucalyptus, and burnt cherries show up on the way out. Certainly not the finesse and balance to the alcohol I'm used to. Third day, the secondary elements came through better, but the alcohol and tough tannins didn't fade enough. But then again- that nose!!

A blockbuster of a cab, notes of menthol leapt out to me when first opened but an hour later cassis, black pepper, dried plum, oregano, tart black cherry and cinnamon sticks were easily distinguishable. The tannins were softer than expected but still present, leading me to believe this wine will get better with age.
