Tenuta Col d'Orcia
Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese

The best bottle of this producer yet. Hope it is the vintage ’cause I loaded up.

Shy, dark fruit on the nose, with tomato leaf, some leather/roast notes, a hint of balsmaico and undergrowth. Plus a flower, uplifting high note above it all. Savoury, mineral, quite fresh.
So juicy on the palate, with spicy, firm yet juicy tannins and zippy acidity. Neither heavy nor jammy - so fresh, juicy, savoury. Such depth & purity.
Absolutely lovely and so young. Don’t open for the next few years.

Expected a bit more for a 9.4 scored wine by WS and a great year for Tuscany. Vibrant red fruit, green notes, tight and single note. Did not really open up after decanting for an hour or so.

Solid. It did improve over time but was shallow throughout. Bouquet was all alcohol not much more. Quaffable but nothing to write about.

Well balanced, medium full body, fruit forward dark red pie cherry. Medium high, dry tannins that were very well integrated with the wine and evolving from mid pallet to a lasting, lingering finish. My kind a wine!
