Tenuta San Guido
Guidalberto Toscana Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot
Beautiful ruby/ brick in color with a wide brick rim.
On the nose red fruits with light oak, licorice, spices, tobacco leaf, herbs, coffee, dark chocolates, light vegetables, wet leaves and light vinaigrette.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with cherries, raspberries, tobacco leaf, dark coffee, dark chocolates, earth, wet leaves, herbs, black pepper, light vegetables and spices.
Medium finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This 9 year old Super Tuscan is drinking beautifully now. Elegant and complex with a soft mouthfeel.
This is not Sassicaia, its older brother, but very enjoyable nonetheless. Nicely balanced, rich and elegant.
Showing lots of sweet red fruits with earth notes to balance them out.
Feels more like a Brunelo di Montalcino, and feels much older than it is. Might be the way it was stored.
Wine Spectator 92 points.
Good by itself or with food. I paired with light appetizers.
A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot.
12.5% alcohol by volume.
91 points.
$60.

Dec 14th, 2016Oh yeah. Secondary wine with a champion flavour. Very good. Lots of oak influence and great sour cherry.

Oct 18th, 2016Lighter than the amarone I originally wanted. Paired really well with a bone in tomahawk steak that was grilled with only salt and pepper.

Aug 5th, 2021It’s been another couple of years since the last bottle from this box. The bouquet is deep with back current and black pepper. It tastes earthy, peppery, plums and black currant, once it opened bell peppers too. The cherry is gone. Integrated, soft, mild , back of the mouth, woody minty tannins. Moderate finish.

Very enjoyable glass of Italian red. Chocolate and redfruit nose.
The Bordeaux blend blends with a little acid kick perfectly with the traditional Spaghetti n Meatballs....
