Pale lemon in colour. Noticeable kerosene on the nose with a little white floral character. On the palate, light weight with medium plus acidity. Very dry. Could be cellared for years more, with all that acid, but how much fruit will be left? HH gave this 95 points and a gold medal back in 2019, cannot see it myself. — 3 years ago
This wine was so named because they had a terrible hailstorm in 2015 (late 2014?) that they described as catastrophic, leaving little Riesling fruit left at harvest. Off-dry, some petrol/diesel notes, great acidity, balanced and texturally very nice, long finish, very fine! — a year ago
But of a surprise, got this in a mixed dozen from an online wine company. Enough fruit to keep it interesting but well and truly balanced tannins. Slightly better than a quaff. — 6 years ago
Spicy and peppery, even a bit smoky, with rich dark red cherry and baked blueberry flavors — 2 years ago
Dark cherry and black pepper - also heavy spices. Medium to full bodied on the palate. Bought at the winery tasting room in WA in 2019. Finishes a little astringent to get a silver or gold medal. Bronze will have to do. Tasted my last bottle 57 weeks later on 7th April 2022 with similar notes although this time more of a dried meat charcuterie note to go with the black pepper and spice. I don’t mind this style. — 4 years ago
