2020 spring. Brambly, wild, both dark fruited and bright at the same time. Plenty of juicy acidity. Foradori really knows how to make this style of wine - her Ampeleia Cabernet Francs are in a similar vein, but this is cooler and more leafy, whereas those are slightly rounder — 5 years ago
One of the more exciting Cab Francs I've had in a bit. Classic in many ways but showing a textural richness and concentration of fruit, earth, and flowers that is markedly unique. Expressive brambly black berry and raspberry, green tobacco leaf, pencil shaving, menthol, animal, damp earth, shiitake. — 7 years ago
More classically styled than the amphora wines, this still has that brambly, savory, leafy character. It’s a bit reminiscent of a great Cabernet Franc - maybe that’s why Foradori is keen on those at Ampeleia — 5 years ago
Acidic, black pepper, funky, nice tannins, medium body. Really enjoy it! — 6 years ago

2021/4/29-30 with Nanjing saltwater duck, etc. Normally I don’t go for wines with international varieties from places like Chianti (and Panzano no less), but I came across this without knowing what was in it and had been wanting to try something from Montefili. It was pretty good - and the Cabernet Franc (which might be my favorite of the French varieties in Tuscany due to Ampeleia) hit the spot when I wanted something to go with duck. It had the brambly cassis and green tobacco, with some cherry from the Sangiovese. Was best on day 1 - was a little plain on day 2. — 4 years ago
A fantastic Maremma wine year in year out. Mostly Cab Franc providing silkyness and pure red fruit while Sangiovese is responsible for structure. A great buy for 24 Euros. — 8 years ago
