Angelica Fuentes bday — 2 years ago
Gooseberry, clove and grapefruit nose with lemon peel and nano peach slivers. Pear and pineapple afterthoughts. Pithy entry of undulating weight, lemon lime and grapefruit, a chalkiness ensues, briny and a touch of angelica.

Served alongside a Thai tea Basque cheesecake with passion fruit ganache. I had been wanting to try this Angelica from Sandlands since I was allocated this one lonely bottle. I’m rarely much of a dessert wine guy but time and place can get me in the mood. This was one of those occasions. The 2020 Angelica is all about the boozy apples and pears; a sort of Christmas fruit cake of a wine. I realize that this is meant to be a throwback to the way wines were made in California way back in the day but this was a little tough for me to really love. That being said, I would enjoy another opportunity with it. It would probably live forever and maybe it needs another decade to really flesh out? — 6 months ago
Bought bottle from el Prado 10/24/21, drank w/ Angelica and mike. Skin contact and slightly tannic but savory and round too — 3 years ago
Dark purple with near black core. Sweet blackberry, herbs, and light baseball bat on the inviting nose. Confirmed on the medium full palate with a hint of marzipan and medium plus acidity. Tannins are mild but present. Oak is present but mild. This food-friendly (I had with beef Wellington) red is an excellent example of why Cabernet of the Franc kind is rapidly gaining ground in the market. New World fruit but surrounded by Old World finesse and none of that SB-induced pyrazine to throw things off. Drink now through 2027. — 4 months ago
Caramel, golden raisins. Figs, banana. No vintage or bottle on date. Not exactly sure how old. — 2 years ago

Tesco. Lovely Malbec. Great flavours, boldness without being too harsh. — 5 years ago

100% Malbec crafted by the Catena Zapata family, which established with their first Malbec vineyard planted in Mendoza, Argentina in the beginning of 1900’s.
This is sensational mid-range in the Zapata portfolio, highly perfumed wine, on nose it welcomes you with a blend of medley berries, ripen plums and baked blueberries. On the palate shows highly and deep flavors of dark chocolate, some hint of herbaceous and violet flowers as well.
The mouthfeel is denoted by the creamy and rounded tannins with a execptional depth and complexity. Decant it for 45-60 mins, pour and cheers! — 2 hours ago
