Vallée d'Aoste Petite Arvine 2023

Pretty, subtle, silken bouquet.

Recommended by the proprietor at Brix to pair with the duck prosciutto I bought from her next door cheese shop, Barnyard.

Hay, sharp acidity balanced with elegance and minerality. Lovely. I can see why it’s currently her favorite white. Super surprising and quaffable.

Maison Anselmet

Petite Arvine 2020

This is a seldom encountered grape that makes a delicious wine. At Anselmet they give it a light wood treatment and lees stirring by rotating the barrels. The wine has crisp acidity and flavors of lemon, white peach, pear, wet stone. With 13.5% abv the wine has a surprising ripeness s as well as medium body. Wonderful silky texture and it marries perfectly with Valle d’Aosta’s traditional fontina cheese-based specialties. A bit pricey (but typical of this Alpine region) and well worth it.
