This is precise and nicely done for a bargain-priced Barbaresco. Nose, with air, shows very pure dark cherry fruit, a bit of rose petal, smoky crushed rock and gravel, and some spice notes. It’s concentrated, chiseled, and fairly full in the mouth. Loads of dried cherry and stone flavors. Significant but soft tannin, and good acids. Enjoyable now but will likely get better over the next several years. — 3 years ago

…. didn’t feel like cooking tonight so it’s ‘Stouffer’s Stuffed Peppers’ (actually a really YUMMY frozen mesl) but with ‘homemade’ haha Mashed Potato, at home with H…. and with THIS wine! — 4 years ago

Very good, as always (my third vintage). A cherry, strawberry, leather, vanilla and smoke maybe. High, pleasant acidity. Tannins on their way to smoothness. — 3 months ago
N: Iron, sanguine, cherries, strawberries, bark, the forest.
P: Much much better than I thought it might be. Rainier cherries, bright acids, linear, medium weight body, nice slightly grippy finish.
Did this a disservice with a PnP before burgers…but wow.
Unfurling should be great.
Turns out, this is Starderi fruit.
As it airs, tar and rose come fore, more grip.

Sipping Fine Wine
Badia a Coltibuono, or "The Abbey of good harvest," lies in the heart of the Chianti Classico area, between Florence and Siena. The Abbey is approximately 2000 years old. Blend of 90% Sangiovese; 10% Colorino, Canaiolo, & Ciliegiolo. Deep Ruby color, aromas of black fruit and earthy spice nose. On the palate flavors of blackberry and cherry with savory tannins, good balance, black pepper and cacao notes. Medium+ finish ending with earthy mineral notes. Good now. — a month ago
