Rosa Dell’Olmo – Gavi DOCG 2024
Cortese – Piemonte, Italy 🇮🇹
Overview
This 100% Cortese from Gavi captures everything that makes the appellation so loved: purity, freshness, and elegance. From lime-rich soils and cooler Piedmontese microclimates, it shows the verve and minerality that define Gavi. Bonus: it’s vegan-friendly, crafted with a clean, modern approach.
Aromas & Flavors
Delicate white flowers, ripe pear, and golden apple, with hints of citrus zest. The palate is dry, lively, and balanced, carrying a graceful minerality and refreshing zing.
Mouthfeel
Crisp and precise, with medium body and a long, clean finish. Youthful energy dominates, yet there’s a subtle structure hinting at short-term cellaring potential.
Food Pairing
Perfect for seafood salads, crudo, fish carpaccio, and simple vegetable pastas. Just as charming on its own as an aperitif.
Verdict
A charming, true-to-form Gavi that balances elegance with vibrancy. Enjoy now for its freshness, or cellar briefly to let Cortese’s nuance unfold.
Personal Pick Highlight
As an educator and frequent class host, I always find Gavi a crowd-pleasing Italian white that wins over both casual drinkers and seasoned tasters. This one will be a repeat mention in my classes for sure. Cheers! — 6 months ago

Trader Joe’s Classic!!!! This usually stinks. But not in this stellar 2021 vintage. Not super complex but more on the elegant side. I would think this will age for 10 years or so. After 24 hours even better and more convincing. Quite tannic! Grab it by the case while it is there the 2022 will be awful (my prediction). And at 20 bucks…….. — 2 months ago

Still quite youthful color and fruit, this a lovely Tempranillo with good structure, balance and length, shows promise for further development with more cellaring. — 10 months ago

2021 vintage. PNP'd. Not nearly as explosive and satisfying as that damned 2019 vintage and less body than the corresponding 2020 vintage but a bit more depth and a tad more spice than 2020. A Trader Joe's spesh at $15.99. Think it'll add a little more body and Beatles Come Together notes in the next 6 months-2 years and maybe bump up to a 9.1. At that price, picked up a few bottles to have at the haus through the holidays. 11.5.25. — 16 days ago
