It's easy to understand why Coquerel calls Sauvignon Blanc its flagship varietal—clearly the result of excellent fruit quality combined with the sheer talent of Bordeaux-born winemaker, Christine Barbe. The 2012 Le Petit Coquerel boasts a vibrant nose of gooseberries and lime zest, punctuated by spicy undertones reminiscent of juniper berries and white pepper. Lovely on the palate, and texturally quite round, with pithy layers of white grapefruit and star fruit. Herbaceous at the close with a long, lingering finish. — 11 years ago

Nez explosif de framboise, fraise écrasée, barbe à papa, confiture, fruits des champs. La bouche est longue, savoureuse avec des saveurs de fruits des champs et de petite confiture. Superbe — 2 years ago
Mid to bright gold in colour. A note of paraffin Notes of Orange marmalade, toast, apricot, mangoes and almonds. Intensity off the charts. How can you get this much flavour into a wine. A fitting finish to a marvellous dinner. Hats off to the Downs Club - Mark Kennedy the chef, and Peter Barbe the Sommelier. May there be many more such dinners, also Ramon the importer who spoke about each wine with great knowledge. — 6 years ago
Philippe Clicquot founded his label in 1772 with an ambition to spread his wine. He conquered Europe and then Russia in 1780, followed by the United States in 1782. His son François, joined him as head of the house in 1798, who had recently married Barbe Ponsardin & 7 years later, following the untimely death of François Clicquot, his young widow ("veuve" in French), just 27 years old, took over the family business. Crisp flavors of strawberry & cherry, vivid acidity on lingering expressive finish. Nice! — 9 years ago
