Yellow. Oak, citrus, white flower. Minerals. Citrus, Vanilla. Rich. Honey. Butter. Slightly fresh and acidic, but Good balanced. Better to be decanted. 3rd day, slightly sweet, after acidity decreased. Bourgogne Chardonnay Chateau De La Maltroye 20 @61, Toscan, 240601-240614 — 10 months ago
My continued quest to try as many 2022 Burgundies as possible.
On the nose, beautiful mid red berry w/ some darker fruits, bright red florals that are slightly withering.
Lovely, ripe, juicy strawberries, cherries, pomegranate, raspberries with tones of blueberries. Light dusty, dry top soils, dry twig, sagebrush, dry river stone, crushed, dry, limestone, some barrel shavings due to their 1/3 new oak use, understated red cola, baking soda, some light dry herbs, bright, red, dark & some blue forals, big acidity (maybe a bit too acidic) with a lovely fresh, elegant finish that lands a bit short. This doesn’t show a ton of depth now, but may in time. — 5 months ago
Very nice. Low acidity, vanilla notes. — 5 years ago
My first Batard-Montrachet and of course, it’s poured into a Solo cup because, Tailgate. Let’s go! The 2005 pours a deep golden color and on the nose, though it shows oxidative qualities, you can already perceive the concentration. Dried stone fruits mostly and pineapple “pate de fruit”, lemon, quince, and nuts. The palate was most fascinating. The attack was brighter with acid and chalk and more tart fruit but the finish was dense, round ripe and dry stone and pomaceous fruit that seemed to cling on the tonsils. Almost like two separate wines. Due to the concentration and acid, this probably has years to go but the oxidative character isn’t going away so I’d probably drink now. — 6 months ago
Gorgeous. Perfect acidity fruit and tannins for sombroiglio swordfish — 3 years ago
Consistent: minerals, brine, sweet spices, and yellow apple. Medium acidity. — 6 years ago
Lovely Chardonnay. Healthy oak, but not mouth drying and all the awesome, subtle inorganic complexity you love and expect from Bourgogne. Limestone, lemon, white flowers, apples. This wine has inspired me to drink more French chard- let me know if you have suggestions! — 7 years ago
Haute Epicurean
Crisp with balanced acidity at the beginning, but opened up with beautiful vanilla notes as the chill wore off. No trace of oaky at all! Love this type of Chardonnay! — 2 months ago
