Château Durfort-Vivens

Margaux Second Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend 2005

This is a very well made wine drinking at its peak right now. It still has lovely primary aromas and flavors of cassis, black cherry and cedar but is now showing more tertiary notes of dried violet, forest floor, leather, mushroom and tobacco. Good balance of fruity with acidity, velvety medium tannin and full body framed by 13.5%abv. Very satisfying with beef tenderloin. — a month ago

Château Pontet-Canet

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

2010 vintage. Decanted and tasted after 30 minutes and 1.5 hours. Light-medium/medium body. Silky, supple and supremely beautiful-for Bordeaux. Regal closure on a lengthy finish. So much attention to detail without it being overtly obvious. Exceptional beauty and a fave, cutting edge BDX producer-along with Durfort-Vivens in Margaux to taste the possibilities of the region. For Pauillac, nearly as gorgeous as Pichon-Lalande...a very close second. This was so stunning. 12.5.25. — 6 months ago

Château Les Barraillots

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

2019 vintage. A small 7 hectares estate with vineyards bought from Palmer and Durfort Vivens in 1928. Cabernet Sauvignon (50%), Merlot (40%) and Petit Verdot. Dark red, with orange rim. Cassis, blackberries and violet, the latter becoming more pronounced after an hour. A smooth, elegant Margaux with silky tannins and good length that doesn't break the bank. Abv. 13%. — a day ago

Great stuff. Not a casual Margaux tho. For the discerning palate...

Le Plateau Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

I’m alive in the glass. Feels like such a good comment. Upon opening it was kind of closed off and a little bitter and tight and didn’t have much of anything and I was worried. I got a bad bottle. Give it 30 to 45 minutes of air and life spring into it. Fresh and youthful of flowers and a little chewing ass of a lean steak with pepper and spices. And then it developed more with the tightness of the structure slowly, giving way to crushed fruit and more floral, violet and rose, smells and flavors. After three days open, but kept in the fridge it has more of a crushed dried flowers again with the violet and the potpourri, muted plum and still a crushed red fruit. Delicious very very delicious. — 5 months ago
