3.0. Slightly flat nose, and even after breathing a slightly flat taste. Not much special about this 2016 Bordeaux. — 6 years ago

Pierre Lurton of Cheval Blanc fame does these wines on his family property. This is one of several cuvées. Truly good stuff done in the classical way, lots of fruit, good finish, unbelievable QPR. Works wonders with food. — 2 months ago
2018 vintage. Cuvée Ortolan, 100% Cabernet Franc aka Bouchet. If anyone should know about the heights perfectly ripe Cabernet Franc can achieve, it would be Pierre Lurton, also the manager of Cheval Blanc where Cabernet Franc is the most planted grape variety (52%). This minuscule production (5297 bottles) of pure Cabernet Franc at his own estate Château Marjosse is a sheer delight. Very attractive nose with raspberry, flowers, a hint of fresh rosemary and a subtle dash of pepper. In the mouth it is all about finesse with a Burgundian-like velvety texture, with layers of predominantly red fruits, fresh acidity, refined tannin and a long finish with retronasal fruit and a delicate spiciness. The 14% abv. alcohol goes unnoticed. Beware: this is very hard to resist, be prepared to finish a whole bottle by yourself. Very impressive. — 5 years ago
I tasted and thought that not good combination with tomato-based pasta. However, the wine became so mellow that marriage occurred. — 8 years ago

Bright medium ruby core and quite narrow ruby , violet rim . Quite juicy with blackberry , raspberry jam , red cherry , red plum , with some spicy herbal notes and touch of cassis . On the palate this is also quite fruit forward , with cassis , blackberry and plum , good freshness and just balanced alcohol , though I would serve this on the cooler side . Ripe , suave tannins . Ok length with a slightly spicy , red plum , cherry tinged finish . Drinking well now and over the next 3 -5 years . A really good example of what a reasonably priced Bordeaux can deliver. — 19 days ago
