Purgatori Costers del Segre Red Blend 2015

Cariñena, garnatxa and syrah, fermented in barrels and then mire than one mire year of aging in barrels. You must feel the wood!! But it is nicely integrated!! Red fruits, and spicy!! Great product from DO Costers del Segre!! — 6 years ago

De la Finca Macabeo-Xarel-lo-Parellada 2015

Single vineyard from Raventos. Just slightly mire structured and mature than the blend. Harmonious with lemony apples, biscuit, and chalky limestone. — 7 years ago

Merlot 2000

Wow. I was lucky enough to return home to aus, go through my wine collection, and see that the 2000 Coonawarra Merlot needed to be drunk right now. The cork had broken before we were able to get it out, but it's still an amazing drop. Just wow. It's one of the best Cabernet Merlots I've had here in Australia. We make fucking great wine. Looking forward to getting my hands on a fre mire. We enjoyed this with Charcuterie and cheese from Australia.
Medium bodied red with a beautiful velvet finish in my mouth. Get your hands on this gem.

Alter Ego Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2005

Paul J
9.3

I think my expectations were too high as this disappointed. Maybe it needed more air, only a 30 minute decant, but seemed more Napa Cab than French Bordeaux. Very fruit forward with dark cherries and wood elements. More tannic than I would have expected as well. Those who know a lot mire about wine liked it much more. Guess it just wasn’t my style. — 7 years ago

Domaine Romaneaux-Destezet (Hervé Souhaut)

La Souteronne Vin de Pays de l'Ardèche Gamay 2016

Pronounced, funky ass aromas of rubber and animal and mud, with the bright gamay fruit lurking under it. The fruit takes over on the palate—tart, bright raspberries and cherries, with the barnyard notes coming on the finish. High acid, mire tannin than I think of for gamay, long finish, intensely flavored. This is yet another neat wine from an always interesting winemaker — 8 years ago

Ribeira Sacra Brancellao

The priciest Ribera Sacra Ive had to date, & probably most subtle. Still, a potent acid backbone along with what always seems to me finely grained tannins (in Ribera reds). Paired nicely w fantastic eggplant parmigiana, less cheesy & mire oniony. Would be curious how these wines age. 2014 — 9 years ago

Nice Italian sangiovese — leather, game, herbal, cherry. Did not enjoy as much as the ‘15 brunello I had on my birthday. But that was higher rates and mire expensive ($130, 96 pts RP). This was $90, 94 pts RP. — 3 years ago

Clonakilla

Canberra District Shiraz Viognier 2015

Australia's premium Shiraz Viognier blend and Tim Kirk says this is the best one he has ever made. I have been buying since the 2001 vintage. This is a cracking cool climate Shiraz blend showing florals Spice and a hint of pepper. Palate is restrained - more the weight of Pinot than Shiraz. Intensity without weight- Fluid, beautiful finishing with fine persistent tannins- 15 years stretching ahead of it. More whole bunch than the early vintages like many Aussie Shiraz producers these days. David Le Mire MW said whole bunch serves to lower the alcohol and increase the pH. Gives a "Tea" character with Stem tannins adding to the finish. — 9 years ago
