Château Munch

Peter Lauer

Senior Faß 6 Ayler Riesling 2022

Really a wonderful young Riesling. Crazy crazy levels of acid and minerals. On its own it’s a bit much to be honest - but with something to munch on very nice. — 2 years ago

Crossbarn

Sonoma Coast Chardonnay

It is light but potent enough to gather interest at approximately the rate of—wait I’d have to check my stocks to make a good analogy—but it has a slender body, gracefully bruised apples (bruise but make it art!) lemons and something of a hint at salinity that makes a friendly sip alone or with a munch. — 6 years ago

Pascal Jolivet

Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc

Pascal delivered an Edvard Munch of a wine with this recent vintage of Sancerre, as it's expressively expressive with a screamer of Stachelbeere, Lime and Minerality. Super pleasing, especially at this price point. Makes my colors run. — 8 years ago

Nouveau Gamay 2013

Edvard Munch would not have experienced the existential angst required to paint The Scream of Nature if he was drinking this one; it would have turned out as The Ice Cream of Nature. — 11 years ago

10% abv, balanced sugar/acidity

Honey, floral, lime & pear nectar (when cold & tight), mandarin, apricot

Wish I could munch on the same harvested grapes at harvest, fantastic fruit quality.

Excellent pour for spring brunch, exciting white sangria, and fantastic as is. 9.1999

Wild Yeast Fermentation Chenin Blanc 2018

i was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to help sorting out chenin blanc grapes in seahorse winery as part of 2019 wine preparation.

i recieved a bottle of last year's wine as a gratitude.

100% chenin Blanc
wild fermentation with no added yeast.
9 months french oak treatment.

14.5% ABV 💪
lots of sweetness in the grape for the yeast to burp all this drunkability.

pale straw with some yellow hinted 👀

colder it's some tropics jumping out at ya.
getting warmer it's almost completely replaced with lemon oil, stone fruit and hints of honey and grated ginger 👃

medium plus body.
bursting high acidity.

it takes a few sips to comprehend the taste.

tart and peachy first. some bitterness coming and hiding at every other sip. 👄 is filled with balanced and complex tartness and other friends.

dry medium 🎯

a winner that is thought provoking.
this is harmonious complexity, and that is always interesting.

good vfm (110 nis).
quality isn't cheap.

had it with lime(juice and peel) and parmigiano pasta the 1st day, they were good friends but not bff.
on it's own second day. wine is always better with something to munch on.

Lúnasa Columbia Valley Grenache Syrah 2019

Amazing! So munch funk and earth yet tons of perfume and polished fruits. So drinkable. Excellent with steak. Nose is very floral and funky. Palate is big brawny with tannins and a game like aftertaste. Unique and wonderful. — 4 years ago

Like a fawn grazing in a field of chamomile. Or some pretty shit like that! While I munch on a ficelle and some salty butter on a red checkered blanket under a tree. — 5 years ago

Napa Valley Merlot 2012

Compared with a note of almost two years ago, this one has done some substantial growing up. Medium-plus density wine. Poured very dark to the glass with a faint hint of violet. The nose is brambly Blackberry, chocolate, and sweet tobacco. This wine sort of seems to have a munch rounder profile through the front and middle.
Black fruit front with a hint of cigar Ash and sweet pipe tobacco. Middle is darker. Dark chocolate notes with a much more mature profile. Still a fair amount of tannin and soil terroir on the finish. A very lovely wine that really shows well with only 5 to 10 minutes of air. This one isn't getting any better in the bottle, so drink up!
