What a beauty! Black cherry, plum, licorice, a bit of spice. Long, long, looooong finish. So balanced with structure, but mellow as well. Sublime. — 10 months ago
Quite the surprise! The nose is just right there upon uncorking with a fresh berry scent that transcends right into the glass. This is a great wine just to sip or with tomato sauce, pasta and cheese and definitely a crusty bread. A real bargain. — 9 months ago

It's shy of the Ciacci Piccolomini Pianrosso, and I actually give a nod to the non-reserva version (see prior rating). — 8 years ago

Dark ruby red color. Smoky aromas of red berry/cherry fruit, rose petals, exotic spices, garrigue and violets. Plush red cherry fruit on the palate with additional notes of fresh herbs, black licorice, dried mushrooms and earth. Difinitive bit of black pepper spice on the long and lingering finish. Medium-plus body with noticeable (but not overwhelming) tight tannins. 15% Alcohol. Powerful. Probably needs a bit more bottle age, but certainly well crafted. — 2 days ago
