Just a little midweek celebration of, of, I don’t know, the * cough cough* conviction of both *cough cough* Manafort and Cohen.
Nice fine bead and froth. Fresh nose: apples and toasty rye bread. Some bitter pear skin. Fruit up front in the mouth and then turning minerally, the finish lingers nicely. At under $20, great value. — 8 years ago
So many good wines. This one showed a little bit of funk right after opening, but turned into a very Lush fruit forward and dense wine that smacked you across the face and finished with conviction. Tannin still rather present here, but has softened. Nice! — 8 years ago
My favorite birth year wines are usually Burgundy or Bordeaux's since the hold up so well over time. Unfortunately, the 1965 growing season is known for Cold weather, Rain an Rot!!!! The 1965 vintage is Atrocious!! Michel Broadband called the 65 Bordeaux wine "Mean, Acidic and Short". Robert Parker was even tougher on the vintage!! Everyone that I spoke to and the research that I did pointed me to this Beauty!! 1965 Vega Sicilia Unico. I opened this last night for my wife's birthday. This bottle was in pristine condition with an original price tag of $4.80 on it!! Too funny!! I love finding beauties like this. I wasn't sure what to expect after reading so much in regards to the terrible growing year. This had a gorgeous earthy dried fruit which lightly caressed our palate. It wasn't the typical huge kid on the block with depth, character and conviction that we've enjoyed previously from other vintages. It was actually really cool to enjoy age, grace and playful Beauty. The finish.was relatively short but there it was still very good and somewhat robust. I just wish it lingered a little longer but oh well., it simply made us pick up the glass that much faster!! The wine was Very, very good. The family and friends that we enjoyed it with are awesome!!
The Love that I have for my wife on her birthday and every other day of the year is Priceless!!!

Not a great vintage at Fritz Haag, but that doesn’t mean you don’t still get excellent wine. I’ve heard FH vintages of this era incorporate a lot of very young replanted vines. Perhaps that’s the issue. At 28 years there’s not much sweetness left, but, there’s sufficient delicacy, finesse, and nuance, to pull it through precisely with conviction. — 5 years ago
A tour d’force! power/precision/persuasive begins to outline this epic build. It’s Tannat frontman sings with real integrity and conviction. Maybe the best “big red meat wine” in Virginia. — 7 years ago
Terrific value Minervois from Wines with Conviction. — 8 years ago
Consumed 10/2017. Australian. Alcohol by content is 14.5% which is a bonus!! 😉 I picked this up at world market, and I think it was in the $20 range, but may have been even less. I think this is the top-of-the-line from this franchise of their wines. It was not bad.!! Taken from the bottle: from the late 1700s to the late 1800s approximately 162,000 men and women were transported via boat to a desolate island for a violation and conviction of one of 19 crimes. The Warden celebrates those who cleverly ruled these cutting convicts with top guard, using them as a source of labor to build public facilities- transforming them into colonists who forged a new country brick by brick. THESE men and women, both incarcerated and their custodians, were the building blocks of the nation we would come to know as Australia. — 9 years ago

The 2015 Pichon-Baron
has an engaging, complex bouquet of blackberry, cedar, mint and graphite, demonstrating more cohesion and more conviction than its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and extremely well-judged acidity that imbues
this Pauillac with a sense of effortlessness and class lacking in some of its peers. A stunning 2015 and one of the greatest releases from the estate. Tasted
blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, July 2019) — 7 years ago
Reminds me.of Moscato that has been aged and refined with the sweetness removed but more strong grape taste added, silky, conviction, bravo Italy, you have done well. — 7 years ago

On the delicate side with conviction. Balanced acid integration. — 9 years ago
Light, lovely communicative Pinot-- Vocal and fruit forwarded with candor and conviction... Not a surprise with this winemaker and vineyard master.. This Pinot announces itself and charms at the same time.. One of those Pinots that possesses the senses. Illusionary, beautifully bizarre, animated and theatrical. — 10 years ago
1998 Colheita Port
This uniquely Californian Port was made from the traditional Portuguese varietals grown here in the hillsides of Amador County. Although many producers in California produce Port inspired wines from the Zinfandel grape, we have chosen this traditional approach because of our grower’s conviction in the ability of the Portuguese varieties of Touriga, Alvaraho, Tinta Cao and Souzao to flourish in the Sierra Foothills. This Colheita Port has been barrel aged in oak for ten years. — 10 years ago

Vintage 2010 | Explosion of red summerfruits, blackberries and cherries. Slight spicyness. Laurel. Plums. Eucalyptus. Rich vanilla taste from aging on new barrels. Much power and still very well balanced. Presents itself with conviction. — 3 years ago
