Panerole Barolo Nebbiolo 2018

2018 vintage. The year not the biggest and brightest but this was on point and present throughout the show. Better than expected work experience and references. Really nice now but likely atop the bell curve in 5-7 years. 11.20.24. — a month ago

Fattoria Rampino di Manoni Daniele

Il Vinco Biancoperso White Blend

Havtorn i både smak och doft - en lite järnig ton och med en hint av apelsin. Låter som ett glas juice men det är väldigt gott med välavvägda smaker. — 3 years ago

Le Strette dei F.elli Daniele

Riserva Barolo Nebbiolo 2010

Nose: warm in a poetic kind of way. A lovely melange of spices roses and tar. Dusty perfume. So floral. Wow. Incredibly penetrating.

Palate is silky. Gods cherry/rose licorice. So “sweet”

Finish is omg. Savory. Chocolate coffee. Terrific.

Bought from fass selections.

Did you write this note while ignoring my pleas for help to just add the pricing on the Geitlinger email? I was crawling around my apartment and pissing in an empty water bottle I was in so much back pain yesterday. I asked you to edit the Geitlinger offer and you barely did, left out the prices and tariffs and then I had to call a client, give him our passwords and he saw valuable proprietary info. He entered the pricing and tariffs because you couldn’t be bothered to because I was having the worst back pain of my life. I want people who read this note to know that’s the kind of person you are.

Jean-Philippe Fichet

Les Genevrières Meursault 1er Cru Chardonnay 2008

2022/7/1 with the last of the prosciutto San Daniele for a while, pan-roasted kuro-shitabirame, turnip salad, etc. This was such a grand, typical Meursault - loads of nuts, butter, stone and lemon, just approaching its peak. Then you add the Genevrières spice - nutmeg, clove and yes, juniper - and it’s really wonderful. It disappeared rather quickly. Sadly Fichet last produced this in 2010, and this bottle (with 14 years of age) didn’t cost much more than a current-release villages lieu-dit goes for... — 2 years ago

M. Hostomme

P. Hostomme Champagne 1990

Dark golden color. Apple and yeast nose. Very fine mousse. 30 years on the lees.
This stood against (and paired perfectly) with lardo di collonato, tiroler speck and San Daniele.
Bravo!

Rainoldi

Inferno Valtellina Superiore Nebbiolo 2015

My very first Nebbiolo wine was a 1975 Valgella from Rainoldi. And my first interview to try to get into the NYC wine business after college in 83 was with the company (C. Daniele, now long-gone, who occupied a ramshackle office on 125th Street, I think) who imported Rainoldi then. So this wine brings up some ancient memories. It’s actually quite nice. It’s more rustic than many Valtellinas I’ve had. Nose has lots of sour cherry fruit laced with clean stony minerality and a bit of barrel spice. Intense yet not heavy in the mouth, with nice interplay between sour and ripe cherry. Nice minerality too. Tangy acidity and a bit of elbowy tannin give structure. Clingy finish. Went really well with bistecca alla pizzaiola. — 3 years ago
