Big, brambly nose with lots of red cherries, mid season sour cherries, earth and mineral. Really clean and evocative. Palate is juicy and so precise. Very clean and a lovely mineral/fruit wash on the finish. Great depth, freshness and terrific concentration. Not elegant but this wine never is. It has such impact for little $$. Nice, ripe tannins and serious structure. This is always best at 5 years old. — 14 days ago

Laughing when I say this… the first glass tastes just as wonderful as the last glass. Often when we do tastings the last glass tastes good but later we wonder why in the world we liked it so much. Solid, gritty and aromatic Fichots. Even in a forward vintage like 17 Fichots is still a bit closed at 8 years old. Needs 3-4 years as Fichots needs more time than any Pernand 1er Cru. — 2 months ago

Dismissed by many as too jammy or too ripe, I’ve always thought this is the fun bottling. This ‘21 is no exception. Beneath the slightly over extracted ripe dark fruits lies quite complex aromas and flavors of figs, sweet spices, dark chocolate, smoke meat, and hint of balsamic. Rich palate but not overbearing. In a good vintage like ‘21, this can benefit for 5-8 years of bottle age.

Probably not technically as good as it tastes. This is a big, rich, flavorful wine with lots of dark fruit and high in alcohol at 15% which is most noticeable upon opening so let it breathe. I like to just sip it but also enhances food especially roasted red meats and strong cheeses with crusty bread. Wine snobs will undoubtedly be critical but so what! It’s just a good solid inexpensive wine that tastes good. Enjoy! — 2 months ago

I usually am not one to run out to the grocery store and buy wine. But tonight, the wife and I were feeling lazy and wanted a frozen pizza and wine. I’ve seen this bottle before, but this was the first time I bought it. Vanilla forward, light and bright. Really a good bottle for $20 at food lion!! I’d most definitely buy again. — 5 months ago
