🔥🔥🔥. Old-school, brawny Cornas with an obvious Chaillot imprint. Granite, woodsmoke, ash, savory spice, pepper, leather, truffles, dried black fruit, menthol, graphite. The minerality is profound. Tannins and acid match the cooler vintage, firm and postured but incredibly textural. Cork was perfect. Day 2 is meat, soy, cocoa, and a juicier fruit profile coming through. The whole cluster had shed away and the umami is really showing. Glad to see this drink this well tonight! — 3 years ago
Tasted blind next to 2010 Allemand Chaillot, this was immediately the fresher, more bountiful and vibrantly meaty, peppery and floral example of Northern Rhône. It did not have the weight, length or elegance of a slightly maturing Chaillot but surprised us all nonetheless. — 7 years ago
A wine that is hard to source with its tiny production showing red cherry, berry, spice, meat, olive , pepper & floral notes. A rec from a wine friend who just returned from the Rhone. — 8 days ago
Since I sadly can’t buy a bunch of TAllemand Chaillot (or even more unfortunately, Reynard), this producer’s expression is one I’ve been waiting to try. Only recently found out he is Noël Verset’s nephew (which certainly helped in getting those old vines from Chaillot!)
Double decanted for an hour before consuming the first half from the bottle the following few hours. Gorgeous translucent red-purple in the glass. Aromatics are bright and expressive…potpurri, black pepper, dark berry fruits, and whole cluster/stems. The palate is crunchy and energetic with peppered blackberries, herbaceous whole-cluster spice, and savory minerals. Lingering finish with big grip. It presents as a “big” cool climate Syrah (if that makes sense), not a burly rustic Cornas. Absolutely delicious.
Second half was consumed the following day and the finish was a bit more finesse driven with all the flavors in balance. Drink now with a couple hours of air or hold a few more years. Now to try the Sans Soufre… — 5 months ago

Tressailler aka Sacy is a vine which was praised 3 or 4 centuries ago, given the ability of the wine to travel long distances (not becoming vinegar on the way) thanks to its natural level of acidity. Acidity is kept under control for this one, with all its character and flavours blending into a perfect balance. — 15 days ago
This is magnificent. Superb nose. Expansive and refined. Floral, herbal, granite, black fruits. Exuberant spice and man that granite. Elite aromas. Soupy dense fruit. A sense of deepness. So good. This is all Chaillot which really shows. The palate is awesome. Young but so refined and massive granitic tannins and massive fruit soak. Young purpley fruit. This is the Mouton-Rothschild of Cornas. The nose is ridiculous after 10 minutes. So detailed and deep. What a palate. This needs 10 years but is so impressive. After 45 minutes 9.5 to 9.6. Best young Gilles ever. — 5 years ago
2015 was obviously a fantastic year for this AOC. Ripe, but not overly so, despite not having been bottled yet. Take this and dial the aromas and flavors up to 11, and you've got his Chaillot offering. — 9 years ago

Powerful and pretty nose. Cherry, tang, gnarly inky wild stuff. Very pure with a bloody and saline mid palate. Gorgeous and intense and long. — 2 days ago
