This wine was part of the Spanish collection from the Bonner private Wine Partnership. This wine is it once the most subtle line in this entire collection, and the most complex. Complex. The nose is clean with a touch of spice. But on the palate, the weight of Navarra's history comes to bear like a crumbling donjon keep. No wonder this vintage has two gold medals." I should have let this wine cellar on the two more years but was too anxious to dive into it. I wasn't disappointed. — 5 years ago

1996 Soldera Riserva Brunello. Bday dinner w GD &Y at Il P. Drank this after the '98 Lucien Michel Le Vieux Donjon Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Another big wine-though not quite as peppery or inky as the Syrah. Pretty balanced, but a big punch of green veg and soil on it. Two big wines and we enjoyed them both. Drinking great — 10 years ago

This CdP seems a bit more angry and wild from being opened, a touch more structure than the softer 2000 Bosquet des Papes (2001 was a more tannic vintage), solid balance, also mature, 13.5% ABV, longish finish. — 7 months ago

A tasting of magnificent CdPs. The ‘03 Rayas was sublime. Drinking a garden with a peppery, smoky nose. Just magnificent. Tasted with a ‘07 Tardieu-Laurent which was beautifully balanced. Fuller than the Rayas, with more of the typical CDP nose. Perfect time for the ‘07. The third wine was the ‘07 Vieux Donjon. The most typical of the granache fruit forward CDP. A bit too much fruit for me. Lacked the balance of the T-L. In the end, nothing compares to the Rayas. An exquisite wine of all time. — 4 years ago

Delicious example of the incredible value to be found in the south of France. 40% Syrah, 40% Grenache and the rest cinsault. Garrigue and blackberry with surprisingly light strawberry notes underneath from the Grenache. For 10 bucks a bottle, just goes to show that if you know where to look there is great value to be had...especially in France — 10 years ago

Pegau CdP is always so great, rich Grenache w/dense, ripe redfruits, this 2000 CdP is more fruit forward than the more structured 2001 Vieux Donjon, both wines are outstanding, these 2 wines really well illustrate the 2000 vs. 2001 CdP vintage differences!! — 2 months ago
