End of the fiscal year. Long one but a good one so this is an exhausted versus drown sorrows drink ;) Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2024 (12 Year, 107 proof)

Nose is surprisingly light for the proof. Soft sweetness, light oak, and a hint of rye spice.

On the palate it isn’t heavy, but it fills the whole mouth. The heat shows early and stays present, reading higher than 107. Sweetness is there but restrained. More spice builds with time, rye-forward and focused on the tip and top of the tongue, with some grip on the cheeks. Oak stays light rather than deep or dusty.

Jk the cap is on do not attempt a chug. Not fancy but quite tasty. A step above “just a blender” and a step below “too good to mix”. The nose brings golden syrup and pleasant play dough and a pinch of allspice and orange peel. The palate is smooth and surprisingly light bodied upfront but finishes mouth-coating. Spicier and more vanilla in the mouth. Black pepper percolates through it all. It’s a little guilty pleasure tv where you know some geniuses made the entertainment value high but you know it isn’t like, prestige tv, but also you are gonna drink this and enjoy the f*#k out of it. — 2 years ago

The color on this is deep. Wood, brown sugar and I might say toffee on the nose. It’s clearly high proof… I wouldn’t call it hot but it fills the mouth. The finish goes on forever which it should at this proof. Forester Birthday takes this by a mile but it’s hard to complain. Trying it neat. — 3 years ago
