Love it! Juicy AF. Minerally. Good with spicy shakshouka. I'd keep a bottle of this on hand all the time. — 2 years ago
First time with Freisa. At 14.5 ABV it was a bit darker and heavier than I was expecting, based on what I've read about this grape. It was still a really good bottle, though, with flavors of red and black fruit, and some clove too. Would like to try this grape again from a different producer. 100% Freisa. 6/5/23. — 2 years ago
This is a new grape variety for me from Langhe.
Reddish in color with a purplish hue.
Showing strawberries, raspberries, tart cranberries, light herbs, earth and dark chocolates.
Medium bodied with medium plus acidity.
Dry on the palate with mild complexity.
Tangy finish with fine grained tannins.
A very interesting dry red from Langhe. Feels like Nebbiolo.
100% Freisa grapes were aged for 9 months in mostly large Slavonian oak barrels.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
89 points.

Castello di Gabiano ‘Il Ruvo’ Grignolino del Monferrato Casalese 2017: Medium-bodied. Noticeable tannins & lively acidity. Complex aromas with bright fruity taste. Fresh flavors of strawberry, raspberry, cherry, dried herbs, earth & a hint of oak. Velvety long finish. Made from 100% Grignolino grape, a Piemonte grape variety, this wine offered a soft delicate texture yet rich red fruit taste. For me, this was a great find; an exotic northern Italian beauty that does not have as strong of a personality as a Nebbiolo, Barbera or Dolcetto but can stand in its own! Happy Wine Wednesday to all! Cheers🍷 — 2 years ago
