dark ruby and a fairly reductive nose, this was my first experience with Freisa. red fruited but muted, lots of earth & forest, bramble - big on palate, grippy tannins yet a jolt of acidity. very unusual overall. interesting & cerebral - imagine this complements heavy tomato based dishes — a year ago

Love it! Juicy AF. Minerally. Good with spicy shakshouka. I'd keep a bottle of this on hand all the time. — 3 years ago

Langhe Freisa 2020

First time with Freisa. At 14.5 ABV it was a bit darker and heavier than I was expecting, based on what I've read about this grape. It was still a really good bottle, though, with flavors of red and black fruit, and some clove too. Would like to try this grape again from a different producer. 100% Freisa. 6/5/23. — 3 years ago

ottoBucce Piedmont Red Blend 2021

2021 vintage. A good value blend from 8 grape varieties ( Barbera, Freisa, Bonarda, Dolcetto, Albarossa, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah), made by the huge Piemontese Dezzani estate (1000 hectares). Uncomplicated, soft, fruity wine, with a little sweetness. Abv. 13,5%. — 7 months ago

Piemonte Barbera Freisa 2022

It's a fantastic blend that starts blackberry and plum fruit forward. There's a nice salt and earthy finish. — a year ago

Castello di Gabiano

Il Ruvo Grignolino Freisa 2017

Castello di Gabiano ‘Il Ruvo’ Grignolino del Monferrato Casalese 2017: Medium-bodied. Noticeable tannins & lively acidity. Complex aromas with bright fruity taste. Fresh flavors of strawberry, raspberry, cherry, dried herbs, earth & a hint of oak. Velvety long finish. Made from 100% Grignolino grape, a Piemonte grape variety, this wine offered a soft delicate texture yet rich red fruit taste. For me, this was a great find; an exotic northern Italian beauty that does not have as strong of a personality as a Nebbiolo, Barbera or Dolcetto but can stand in its own! Happy Wine Wednesday to all! Cheers🍷 — 3 years ago
