Completely singular and deeply compelling. The nose is wildly expressive, with leather, cigar, red fruit, birthday cake, spun sugar, spice, roses and lilacs, all carried by a distinctly Alpine freshness. The palate is silky, juicy and beautifully balanced, with terrific concentration, tangy energy and velvety sweet tannins that give the wine real structure without ever feeling imposing. As it opens, it gains amplitude and depth while remaining light on its feet, with a kind of flowing structure that moves through the palate rather than sitting on top of it. Roughly 50% Petite Rouge with the balance being a field blend of Coralin, Fumin, Mayolet, Vien de Nus and Gamay. Medium garnet color. Aromas and flavors of red and black cherry, purple flowers, black raspberry, cranberry, almonds and pepper spice. Nice rustic and smoky earthiness on the long finish. Medium-minus body, light tannins and beautifully balanced. Needs some time to open up. Small production and unique. Excellent choice, Petey P! Love this producer! Revisited in September 2024.
